I stared back at Iris for a really long time wondering when would she stop staring at me with her mouth wide open.

"You guys are what?!" Iris exclaimed. She paced quickly around in her bedroom.

'You guys are going out on a date! You and Alex! Wow' She stopped and sat down on her bed. She looked up at me 'What about Liam ans Tracy? You guys are so heartless'

I sat down right next to my best friend. 'I know but it's just a date. What harm comes from one date?'

'I dont know! What if you were instead of Tracy? How would that feel? Alex is cheating on his girlfriend!' Iris cried out enraged. I knew she was like this because someone cheated on her once ago. Iris walked in on the guy making out with another girl. Iris was shattered. she liked this guy alot and it was alot to take.

'Iris calm down' I told her 'Alex broke up with Tracy.'

Iris was shocked. 'Why didnt you guys tell me?! Why does no one tell me anything?'

I laughed at her 'I just told you the whole story'

'You know what i meant. So why did he breakup?' She asked me.

'I think it's obvious that he likes me still.' A thought crossed my mind. 'I havent made it clear to Liam though I will do it as soon as I come back today.. one date wouldn't hurt right?'

Iris looked thoughtful. 'I suppose.. Alright i approve of this but it should be just a date and then you both need to sort out with your exes before moving further'

I squealed and hugged her. She knew me inside out. She knew I would try to avoid any confrontation from Liam or Tracy. I just hated breaking someone's heart.

I released Iris. 'Then will you help me get ready atleast?'

She smiled and agreed.

A few hours later we were lying on the floor of my bed room, laughing and putting on different kinds of makeup. Iris looked horrible as i painted her face white and blue. We laughed and took pictures as time went by.

My phone was buried under a pile of clothes and makeup. The farmiliar sound of jingle bells sounded and I rushed to find my phone buried under a pile of clothes. I checked at the caller Id. It was Alex. I glanced at the clock. It was already 7pm.

Shit! Where did the time go by?!

I picked up the phone, 'Uh hello?'

'Hey Amy' Alex breathed 'I am standing right outside. Can you please grace me with your presence?'

I laughed and looked around the mess ' Actually I'm not ready at all. Iris is here with me and we sort of got... ' Iris cut me off as she took the phone out of my hands.

'Hey Alex! Give us 15 minutes and I'll have her ready' Iris told Alex.

She then hung up and tossed the phone on the bed. 'Your date is waiting for you. Now lets get you ready'

The next fifteen minutes have to be the fastest 15 mins of my life. I wore a purple dress and a jacket on top. As Iris did my makeup, I tended to my hair. In 15 minutes she had me rushing down the stairs making me almost trip over the carpet.

Iris picked up her purse as we both exited the door. She went to her car and waved us both a goodbye then left. It was a bit chilly but other than that it was the perfect weather.

I looked around and I saw Alex standing next to his father's car.

He borrowed it just for me!

My heart skipped a beat as he came closer and took my hand in his. He led me to the passenger seat and opened the door for me to sit inside.

How gentlemanly!

As soon as he sat inside, he looked at me and smiled his breathtaking smile, 'You look beautiful'

I blushed and looked down at my hands as the engine roared to life.

'Where are we going Alex?' I looked at him as he drove. He was very calm yet I could tell he was just as excited as I was. That was the benefit of being bestfriends.

'You know its a suprize' He looked at me and I stared back at him and then turned my face away. I kicked off my heels and put my feet on the dash board 'Suprize me' He grinned and didnt mind at all.

Oh the benefits of going on a date with your own best friend! No need to behave or impress someone. You just need to be yourself.

I had a feeling it was going to be the perfect date.
