Athenas pov
Today my daughter and her seascum boyfriend are coming to visit. I start to prepare the throne room, placing a dining table and 3 chairs , two on either side, and one at the end. I add a centrepiece made of owl feathers, and a table runner in grey with silver lining. All of the cutlery and everything is grey, in hopes that the sea scum shall feel offended.(All of Poseidon's offspring are.) I just start to conjure up a sophisticated meal, when I hear the elevator to the throne room open. I turn and see my favourite child wearing a long sleeved grey shirt, with jeans and a long dark green jacket. Beside her is her scum of a boyfriend, wearing a blue button up shirt with dress pants. I stride over.
"Hello Annabeth," I greet, "Hello Perseus." Disdain dripping from my voice.
"Mother!" Annabeth scolds. I glare at her but say nothing else. I turn back to the table and fix a gorgeous meal of steak and asparagus with mashed potatoes.
"Please, have a seat." I offer, taking the head of the table. The two demigods take the remaining chairs and look to me.
"You may eat." I say, gesturing to the platters of food. The two start to serve themselves with large helpings of everything.
"Thank you got your hospitality mother." Annabeth says, smiling at me.
"Of course Annabeth, it was my pleasure," I start, "So, Perseus, how is your education coming along? Good marks I assume?"
"Uh, school is going fine Milady. Pretty decent marks. Annabeth has been helping me study." He replies. I notice that the water in his glass starts to spin, he's nervous.
"Have you thought about a further education for after high school?" I question, starting my interrogation.
"Yes Lady Athena. I have thought about applying to the universities and colleges in Camp Jupiter. I am not entirely sure what I will study." His answer flows off his tongue as though it was rehearsed. I look over at my daughter to see a masked expression of pride. I suddenly realize they practiced this meeting, they were expecting my questions. Anger bubbled in the pit of my stomach, how dare they best me? I decide to go with an unusual question.
"How is Mrs. Jackson doing? She is still married to Paul Blowfis, correct?"
"Um, uh, yes she's fine, and yes she is still married to Paul. There's a child on the way as well." He stutters. I threw them off their pattern.
"That's wonderful. How do mortal pregnancies work again?" I ask.
"Uh, um, well.." the sea spawn mumbles.
"Mother!" Annabeth says quite loudly, "How have you been? I haven't talked to you in a while." She asked me, swiftly changing the topic.
"I've been well. There is nothing interesting to do here. I've done it all." I reply. "So Perseus, what about your future with my daughter? What is your hope?" I change back to the more important questions.
"Well, I would like to continue to date her, go to a good school with her, propose to her, marry her, and live together, perhaps with children." He answers so quickly I thought it was another rehearsed question, but when I look to Annabeth, she is sat with a dumbfounded expression and tears in her eyes.
"Percy..?" She says.
"Oh.. well that's all just my hopes and dreams at least, but for right now I just want to love her and for her to love me." He says. My daughter looks like she's refraining from jumping across the table towards him. In my mind, I think that the Sea Spawn's child isn't as bad as I thought he was. At least he makes my favourite child happy. Suddenly, a loud squeal can be heard from the throne room. Then Aphrodite appears, stood on the table.
"I can not believe that you have finally changed your mind! I never thought it would happen!!" She gushes, walking over our dinner. I knew exactly what she was talking about, but I asked a question anyways.
"What in the world are you talking about?" My tone is slightly annoyed, as always.
"Oh you know what I'm talking about." She then turns to the demigods. "Athena has just changed her mind about Percy! She no longer thinks him intolerable, just very annoying." She told them. Perseus's eyes turned the size of the dinner plates we were using, and Annabeth raises her eyebrow at me.
"Seriously?" She asks.
"Well, I mean... not really, but... kind of." I stutter, kicking myself for it. The couple smiles at each other, then at me.
"Thank you Lady Athena." Perseus bows his head to me.
"I'm not doing it for you." I snap. Percy just smiles.
"Of course you aren't. Never will you do anything for me. It is all for the sake of your daughter, and that is a feeling I understand." He says.
"When did you get so good with words?" Annabeth asks him, her eyes large.
"When it comes to your safety, I know exactly what to say." He says with a wink at my daughter. The rest of the night is pleasant, filled with small talk and jokes. Come the end of the evening, I no longer despise the boy, just mildly dislike him. I now understand their love. I now understand, what Aphrodite calls, Percabeth.

900 words.
