"You look beautiful dear," my mother says as she looks at my reflection in the mirror.
I always imagined my wedding happening with all my friends in the film industry, my entire family and all my friends. I would have had at least three ceremonies to fit in everyone. Never in my life did I imagine a wedding with 10 people and that's including Zayn and myself. The entire wedding planning was rushed with the exception of the dress, picked out by me. Dad wanted the event to be private, and Zayn's family agreed to an intimate wedding. I hate my life.
The wedding would be just for business and not for the world to know. This is the most private aspect of my life and it's a part that is supposed to be shared with others.
Zayn's family and my family agreed to still keep the event at a large banquet hall to maintain the feeling of a traditional wedding. I don't think a twin switch at a wedding is very traditional, but whatever.
"Mia," I hear Jade call my name as she peers into my dressing room. "You look beautiful," she says.
That's when I start crying. I managed to not cry for last few weeks, but the realization that a major part of my life would be stripped away from me made my heart ache. Something I dreamt of since I was five was not something of my choice.
Immediately Jade comes by my side to hug me. "It'll be alright. You're so strong. Stronger than I could ever be." No words of comfort could stop me from crying.
Thank God for waterproof makeup.
I wipe my tears and smile at her, but even I can't fake a perfect smile at that moment. "I'm fine. It's just the wedding jitters," I fake a laugh.
The look on her face tells me she's not buying it, but she decides not to question it further. "I'm going to get going. Mom is freaking out out there," she attempts to make the situation lighter.
I look at my face in the mirror. My smile doesn't look genuine. I've had more genuine smiles in front of the camera acting as someone else than than the smile on my face now. The sadness behind my smile is so obvious to me that I have to blink back the tears that are forming again.
My father knocks on the door before barging into my room. "Let's go. Everyone's waiting."
I smooth out my dress before meeting him at the door.
He links arms with me as he walks me down the aisle. Halfway down he whispers while smiling so that only I could hear, "Make me proud for once."
*************
"I now pronounce you man and wife. You may now kiss the bride," the priest finishes and I freeze. I don't make an attempt at closing the gap between us and I see Zayn visibly hesitate. You think after all the guys I've had to kiss onscreen I could kiss my husband in this moment. He pulls me in by my waist and cups my cheek before placing the most brief kiss I've ever had on my lips. The brief peck leaves me noticing the softness of his lips and the warmth of his breath. I immediately step back and look towards our families to see a satisfied smile on my dad's face and a adoring smile on my mother's. I turn back to him to see his cold gaze on me before he looks away.
The next few moments are incredibly awkward. There's no planned out events. There's no reception given that there's like 10 people here, and I honestly don't know how to feel.
The awkward silence doesn't last long before my dad speaks. "Zayn, you must be exhausted. The two of you should go enjoy the suite we have booked for you at our hotel. We can call it a day here. I understand how eager you two newlyweds must feel."
Does he ever shut up? Zayn turns towards me with indifference and I could tell he caught me glaring at my father. His look turns analytical before he holds my hand. His hands are so much larger than mine. The contrast of his rougher hands feel comforting against my softer hands. "Yeah, I'll get Ben to drop us off. We'll see the rest of you later."
He drags me along with him and I find myself trip on my dress several times, but he doesn't seem to give any fucks. We finally stop when we're met with an Audi. At least he has good taste in cars.
He peers inside the window and groans before picking up his phone and placing it to his ear. "I thought you were on duty today... No, there's nothing important... I'll just drive myself. Just come in for tomorrow," he says before getting into the driver's seat. I just stand there dumbfounded until he calls for me, "Get in."
I immediately scamper into the seat next to him and find myself twiddling my fingers for the entirety of the car ride. "Can we stop by house first to get my clothes? This isn't very comfortable." Why does my voice sound so incredibly annoying right now?
"Your sister already packed your bags and I got someone to put your stuff in our room." Our room. It sounded forced out of his mouth as if he would rather be sharing his room with Godzilla or something.
"Thanks," I said quietly before looking out the window. We successfully ignored each other for the remainder of the car ride.
When we got to the hotel, he swiftly got out of the car and headed towards the hotel without a word to me. How could someone so hot be so infuriating? I guess pobody's nerfect.
"Ms. Aldaine," the receptionist acknowledged me and smiled.
I smiled back and was ready to greet her before I was so kindly interrupted. "It's Mrs. Pearson," I looked around at him and simply glared.
I turned back to her, "Jade is fine. My dad should have booked a room for us. Do you mind giving us the passes?"
She quickly ducked down under the desk and pulled out two passes. "Enjoy your stay here. We'll have Alex come up to your room shortly to get your orders for your complementary meal."
"Thank you," I said. I looked down at my pass for the room number and started heading in that direction. I turned back to see Zayn following behind me. Yes bitch, follow me.
Once we got to the hallway that we'll stay at he walked passed me towards our room.
This will obviously go great.
