Yoongis pov-
I hadn't realised I was staring until I heard a meek voice asking if I was okay.
"Are you okay?"
"I, uh yeah" I stumbled over my words, not remembering the last time a real person initiated a conversation with me.
He seemed to notice my nerves and gave me a reassuring smile.
"You can sit if you want, its free real estate"
I chuckled at his lame joke and sat beside him, already starting to feel comfortable with him. We sat in silence as I racked my brain, trying to remember what the people in movies did when they were trying to make a friend.
I abruptly stuck my hand out with a loud cry of, "My name's Yoongi and it's nice to meet you!"
The boy seemed to startle before dazzling me with his sunshine smile and saying, "I'm Hoseok but you can call me Hobi! It's nice to meet you too by the way"
After we exchanged names we started talking. He seemed to understand me, like we already shared some sacred bond. Being with him felt right, it made me feel safe. I wondered, is this what friendship feels like?
At this thought, we had settled back into silence, however, this time I felt no need to break it. The sun had started to set, casting a golden glow upon the pond's surface. I should be going home soon, I still needed to do my homework and have dinner. But I found in that moment I couldn't bring myself to care. There was no place I'd rather be than there.
"You should go home, it's dangerous to be out at this time of day" It was quite extraordinary how he could seemingly read my mind.
I stood, dusting myself off. I glanced at him and gave him a smile, which he immediately returned as I started walking from where I'd come.
"Yoon!" I didn't turn back to look at him.
"What Hobi?" I tried to sound annoyed, but I'm sure he could hear the smile in my voice.
He was silent for a while. Hesitating. Almost like he was nervous, before he seemingly built up the courage to yell back, "Friends?"
My response was quiet, barely above a whisper, but he still seemed to hear what I said perfectly, "Friends."
