Chapter Ten

There's a sudden knock on the front door. I get up and open the door. It's my dad.

"Hey Dad, this is Ethan and Grayson." I tell my dad as he walks in. They all shake hands and introduce each other. I could tell that my dad was faking a smile. He went over to the couch and let his body fall onto it. He looked so sad and depressed.

I told Ethan and Grayson that it was best if they leave so that I could take care of my dad. They both left without saying anything. I walked over to my dad and gave him a glass of water.

"Is everything okay?" I ask him. He shakes his head, signaling "no". I rub his back to try to comfort him. My dad suddenly stands up and slaps my face. It felt like if everything in the world had stopped. My face was throbbing and a bruise was forming.

"What the hell!" I yell at my dad. He picks me up by my neck and throws me on the couch. He's obviously drunk. He walked up stairs, his fists balled and his jaw clenched. I walked to the kitchen to grab some ice. I looked at the counter to see that Grayson left his phone. I called Ethan off of my phone to tell him to come back and get it.

After a couple of minutes, Ethan walked through the door. He walked over to me and grabbed Grayson's phone. That's when he noticed that my face was bruised up and red.

"Who did that to you?" He asked, with a furious expression in his face.

"It's nothing.." I say. He grabs my wrist and pulls me in for a long hug. I hold onto him, like there was no tomorrow. My face was pressed against his warm chest. He didn't let go of me until I let go. He put both of his hands on my cheeks and gently kissed my forehead.

"Let me know if you need anything." He tells me. I nod my head and watch him as he walks out of the house. Tears drop out of my eyes once Ethan has fully walked out of the door. I fall to the floor and cup my face in my hands.
