"Let me out!" Screaming in rage, I throw another rock at the retreating figure leaving the cells.
"Hope will you calm down already."
My head whips around to face Everest in her separate cage next to mine. "What?"
She rolls her eyes, "It's been a few days girl. They haven't spoken to us at all, do you think throwing rocks is gonna make them?"
I huff, crossing my arms across my chest. "Everest this is odd." We gaze at each other silently for a moment. "Everest, they find us. Heal us. And then what?"
"Kill us." She shrugs and flicks a stray piece of hair out of her face.
I go back to my corner next to Everest and sit down. "Everest, I'm scared."
Fingers gently caress my bare knee. Our fingertips brush and we lock our pinkies fingers together. "We will get through this, Hope."
"Fuck that." I glare out the entrance to our cells. "We are getting out of here."
Everest growls in agreement. "Thank goodness, I need to get out of these rags."
We both look down at the burlap sacks they made us wear after the Lycan doctor treated the two of us for frostbite and pneumonia. They never gave us back the furs from Magnus and didn't question us about how we got them either. Again, how odd.
"Technically it's been a week Everest." I lean my head against the cool metal of the cell.
She laughs dryly "Well, we've been locked up for three days ever since they let us out of the infirmary."
"And what an eventful three days it has been Omegas." A deep baritone voice breaks our somber trip. Immediately Everest and I clutch tighter at each other through the grate-like bars. A tall, stocky man towers in front of the entrance to our small cave. "Don't stop on my account." He walks forward until he reaches the torchlight.
A horrified gasp is pulled from the two of us. The man in front of us has half his face disfigured. Almost as if someone tried to tear it off. His bright golden eyes gleam at us in the low light.
"Little Red," He centers his gaze onto Everest, "How are your injuries coming along?"
My brow lifts and I chance a glance at Everest to unsurprisingly see a mad red blush lighting her face. Internally I groan at her antics. Another "daddy" figure for her to prey on. "Yes, I'm fine." Everest flutters her lashes and I practically vomit in my mouth.
The man smiles, the scars stretching his face gruesomely. "I'm glad, Little Red."
"Okay Mister, can you stop flirting with my friend," I smirked up at him when his gold eyes flashed in my direction, full of annoyance "Also could you explain why we're here and not dead somewhere in a ditch?"
"My name is Luke, and I'm the leader of the Bragga Clan." He smirks, cloying Alpha scent filling the small area. "You are the human who broke behind enemy lines." The man steps close to my cell. "You're the new Luna for the North, right?"
"No." Everest stares at me in shock. "I was never inducted." I pinch her finger when Everest opens her mouth to speak.
He lifts his one and only eyebrow which is an amazing feat in itself. "You have a Mating Bite." He points at his bare neck as a reference, "That means since your Queen is out of the way, you're next in line."
"What do you mean?" Everest pipes up. "Hope only met Alpha Queen Mac a few weeks ago."
"Little Red," He gazes warmly at Everest and then turns back to me when I let out a possessive growl and tighten my hold on her hand. "Human." We both stare at the Alpha Lycan, "The North made a treaty with us during the Dark War." He crosses his arms over his burly chest making him seem even larger. "Queen Mac never delivered."
