Chapter 5

I sat on the bench near the slide and watched as Aria played with another little girl,who unusually looked very familiar. Someone I knew,she had the same brown eyes and curly brunette hair and her lips were always puckered in a pout. I was overthinking,how could that happen?
I shook off the thought and took out the book I was currently reading Pride and Prejudice probably the tenth time. I was deep in my reading spree when I heard a high pitched cry,some baby had fallen .

I looked up from the book and saw Aria's new friend and Aria beside her trying to help her get up. I kept my book and hurried near them,I crouched down to their level "how did you fall down honey?" She shook her head and pointed her finger towards the swing ."let's clean you up okay? Aria baby go sit down on the bench" she followed behind me . I walked toward the bench and sat down on it and had the little girl on my lap whimpering. "What's your name honey?" I asked wiping then mud from her knees with a wet tissue. She whispered softly "Ava". I smiled and continued doing my work when suddenly Ava jumped from my lap and ran towards a tall woman who had a business attire and was looking at her phone,she smiled still staring at her phone and wrapped her hand around Ava's neck and brought her close to her knees. Ava was jumping and trying to show her what happened to her leg but her mum was too busy in her phone.

My protective side kicked in and I walked towards them . I cleared my throat and rolled my eyes when she still didn't look up .

"Um,excuse me I'm really sorry to intrude but your daughter Ava,here fell down and hurt her knee it was a small cut" she suddenly looked up and I couldn't believed what I saw. The same green eyes that helped me put on my wedding dress,the same girl whom I knew for years now.

Her mouth flew open and she looked at me smiling.

"What? Hi,Hello Ohmygod what do I say ? What has it been like a decade!?" She said gasping and hugging me tightly.

"No it's been 4 years Rose I've missed you" I said holding her hand

"I missed you so much,I mean literally I called you everyday for two years and all the voicemail says is Hi,you've reached Skylar if you're getting this voicemail just know I don't want to keep in touch with you I don't want to be rude but some people I actually care for our listening to this I'm sorry " she said looking at me with pure sadness visible in her eyes.

I looked down at my feet and whispered back 'sorry' . I looked at her and said "I couldn't tell you what he did to me for years,I wasn't capable of holding that much pain anymore Rose I'm sorry" . She smiled and hugged me,she was going to say something when Ava came running towards her with Aria following behind . "Mumma,can Aria play with me plwewse?" Ava said her lips in a pout.

"Of course honey,I think she'll be coming everyday " she smiled and the little girls jumped up in glee .

"Look as much as I would love to go I can't " I said

She groaned "look I'm not inviting you because of my brother okay?

I nodded and replied "I'll definitely visit sometimes"

She smiled excitedly and said "tomorrow 8pm? At my place,I'll text you the address" I smiled and nodded back.

"I'm so sorry to cut this short but I need to leave I'm already late" I hugged her one last time,placed Aria on my hip and walked towards my apartment. It was four years,and I meet someone of his family,someone who's close to him.
