Acceptance

Over the period of about a month, Jane received mail. She didn't know it was for her until she opened it. Jane almost squealed with joy after she read the first paragraph. It was her acceptance letter to Morton University. They couldn't accept her in any classes yet, but they wanted her to come teach an art class for adults. It also said that she could stay in a dorm room. That was defanably a plus. She had always wanted to get away from her parents and go live by herself.

Aside from that, the letter said it needed her there by next Monday. Impossible. Next Monday was in two days! The letter must have been delayed because the send date on it was September  12. Crap. Luckily, the air-fare tickets were with the letter along with an ID badge with no ID in it. That won't be the the case soon enough.

Jane rushed to her bedroom and threw clothes into a ratty old suitcase. She included all her art supplies and a few books. Lastly, she scampered to her parent's bedroom and collected money from a safe. This would get her by for about a month or two. She tip-toed put of her parent' s room, careful not to awaken them from their slumber. There was really no point anyway though because they are like lazy rocks. They sit there. All. The. Time.

Jane dragged her suitcase down the stairs not even attempting to contain her excitement. She wrote a quick chicken- scratch note and put it on the wobbly table. Then she rushed out the door, flagged a cab, and officially reached maturity.

Dear mom and dad,

I have decided to pursue my dreams. I have received an acceptance letter to Morton College to teach art and am probably long gone. I took about 200$ from the safe, but will pay it off when I return. I will keep you updated.
