Some nights, when she could not sleep Tessa wondered threw the Institutes corridors. Sometimes, if her restlessness was bad, she would go into London. She'd put a glamour on so no one could see her, she would stand on the bridge ledge, outstretch her arms and feel the wind whip her face. She felt freedom there.

Tonight, Tessa felt restless and made her way to the enterance. She could hear Jem on his violin and Will snoring. The noises reassured her, reminded her that there was life in those she loved. She opened the institutes grand door, and stepped out but then stood. She felt something hit her, straight into her body. She knew Gabriel would have rated it a ten. She felt the air go from her and her hand leap to the wound. It was a clean shot, right in the middle of her torso. Above her stomach and below her heart. She didn't feel herself fall into the institute. Nor her falling to the stone stairs. She heard something in corridor. And she felt hope glimmer in her.
