Phenderghast Elemental School For The Incredibly Talented, a school with people that can create earthquakes with a flick of the wrist or a tsunami with just one snap of their fingers. Known as the top school of Wormwood with stories of legends and top students... and I, James Marast - go to this incredible school. However, here's the catch, I have something that other people don't. See my mother always told me I was gifted and that my element is only something that occurs once in 1000 years. I have the ability to use the power of the sun. This includes me being able to manipulate sun and light to my advantage, for example creating a massive pulse beam of flaming hot sun energy out of my hands. However, being a 16-year-old first year that other people call "the special nerd kid"- school could be a lot better on the social side. On the other hand, the educational aspect of this school is just out of this world: The teachers, classrooms, advanced spells that are taught to the older years; I do really get jealous.

But there is one place I can show that I'm not just a nerd like so many people say. Every year, 3 magical schools in Wormwood hold a magical tournament where the schools battle in serious of tests, games and many other things. The pair first years, second years and third years together to make it a little bit fairer. And the fact that I am one of the, if not the most naturally gifted student in the Phenderghast first year (Not to brag) I really fancy my odds. Given my sun ability, I definitely will have an advantage on most of my opponents... I highly doubt anyone else will have as rare power as mine. Not that it matters because it's one thing to have a unique power, but it's another to use is responsibly and efficiently. So it may be easy if they stay at a distance and use long ranged spells that are. The problem with me is that I'm not exactly the most "physical" people you will ever meet, What I'm trying to say is that I suck at close quarters combat - and that's where I'm scared. My worst nightmare would be a test where I have to do a parkour fight that includes having to challenge someone with magic while jumping over obstacles and staying on the move. That would be a nightmare... When I first told people that I was going to represent our school at the magic test, they just simply burst out laughing. They tell me I'm too "nice" and would be shit at competitive activities, but I'm going to prove them wrong. Just you see...

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! My eyes slowly slip open to the sun slowly seeping into my room, as the sun makes contact with my skin, I instantly feel revitalized and refreshed. I get out of my bed and start sifting through my wardrobe to see what I should wear today as my first year as a Phenderghast student! as though comes to my head, a huge smile plays on my lips and doesn't show any sign of leaving. Out of my closet, I pick out some dark blue jeans, a white top that matches my unusual white hair and some trainers that are hanging near my door. I look around the confined dorm room and sigh. "I'm so lucky to be here.." Today is the placement tests for the magic tournament. As I stepped out of my small dorm room, the long corridor was full of magical statues, A variety of different groups of students and different dorm rooms that litter the corridor. Multiple weird conversations of what class people have first and what element they are can be heard bellowing through the walls of this place. Speaking of which, where the hell is my friends?! As I frantically search through the massive main hall trying to dodge spells that arrogant students are casting, the last place to check was the cafeteria...

The cafeteria was booming full of magical foods and delights. Magical plates float over toward each table and laughter can be heard echoing the halls. As I look round in utter amazement - over those loud conversations, I hear a familiar voice call my name...

???: "Hey James!, get your ass over here!"

The voice echoes my name and I turn to face where the sound came from. There I find my best friends Sophie and Thomas sitting by themselves at a huge rounded table. I met these two last year when I was still with my mother and not part of this crazy school. Oh, how I miss my mother... They were one of the only friends I actually had and I don't know where I would be without them. when I walk over to them I can see their grins beaming at me.
