Naruto was in tailed beast mode charging after Madara with the final blow with sasuke, while shikamaru was trying his best to hold Madara down with the Nara clan's special jutsu. Madara was stabbed and hit with the resengan in the stomach, after that they all waited a few seconds after to see what would happen. Madara collapsed to the ground crumbling into dust and blowing away with the little breeze that blew past them,'its over, but at what cost?' they all asked themselves. shikamaru collapsed to the ground because of chakra depletion "Shikamaru!" Naruto catches him before he hits the ground "I'll be fine hokage-sama, just a little tired that's all"
while shikamaru was resting under the last living tree, sasuke and Naruto was sitting at the top of konohagakure watching the sunrise over the mountains "so what's next hokage-sama?" sasuke asked still looking at the sunrise "I have no right to be called hokage, I couldn't protect the people in knonha" Naruto said blankly "you protected us." sasuke said. Naruto didn't think about- "last time I checked, me and shikamaru are citizens of The Village Hidden In The Leaves, and im pretty sure your our hokage" sasuke tried to lighten the mode a bit with his sarcasm. "is this your way of comforting people??" Naruto turned to him trying to understand the meaning of the conversation their having "Hn."
