Synthetic Symphonies are a fictional synth-pop band, who share the Mirror Walker universe with Raoul Sinclair and all the other characters who populate the pages of Shattered and Picking up the pieces.

Frances O'Neal and Jean Christopher were of course heavily inspired by real life pop musicians Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe of Pet Shop Boys fame, but they were only the starting point. In my mind and on the pages, they have evolved and have taken on a life of their own. It so happens that Francis is the keyboard player and Jean the singer and front man. These differences are only the tip of the iceberg and I hope Francis and Jean seem real enough for you to enjoy reading about them, even if you are not a fan of 80's synth pop and have never heard of Pet Shop Boys.

The lyrics in this book were written to get inside of the minds of my characters, to find out what makes them tick, what interests them or inspires them. In the world of Synthetic Symphonies there are of course more than lyrics, they are perfect shiny pop songs. Some were even hits or, even better, number one records. Due to the limitations of the author, who cannot read music, carry a tune to save her life, not to mention write music, the words are all we have. I leave it to your capable imagination to fill in the gaps.
