Bria couldn't help but wonder how much time had passed. She had labored through fingerprinting handleless knives, closely examining bullet cases, looking over anything that could aid in the case, but there was nothing coming up. The bullet cases could correlate to a specific bullet, and then that bullet may be able to be used in numerous different types of guns. All of the knife blades, four in total, were stained in the rusting red of their victims; and without any security tapes, it was difficult to try to piece together any potential visuals of the ruthless murderer.
Frustration was beginning to hit her like a boulder as she wrote everything she had gathered in a brand new notebook she had purchased for this case, as was her habit with all of her cases. The notes weren't much, but it was enough to at least get a little data on how the killer murdered his victims:
"Evidence suggests that either the murderer first proceeds to shoot the victim, henceforth killing them, as all bullet casings found have been linked to all four cases, or the victims are brutally tortured by some form of knife before then being shot. Due to not enough blood being on the blades to suggest they were the murder weapons, but rather tools of disgusting and painful torment, the blades may be labeled as being used for knife attacks, not the murders themselves."
The entire rest of the page was blank. There was nothing more to write about the case, especially with a great emptiness in the amount of information she had to go off of. The young detective had figured this case would be one of her hardest to crack, but it was near impossible to imagine that it would be anywhere near the level of difficulty it was turning out to be.
A sudden sound of footsteps approaching from down the corridor caused Bria to slowly turn her head in the sound's general direction. The creator of a sound was a man in his early thirties, fully dressed in a police uniform. His hair was the color of flames, while his eyes were as blue and frosted as ice.
"Oh, my apologies miss, I wasn't aware that anyone was down here at the moment." His voice had a slight hint of anxiety in it, and the man winced a small amount after noticing the label on the plastic container for the evidence Bria was observing.
Bria, noticing this, responded in a slightly calming tone of voice, "Hey, it's fine. I'm done with this stuff anyways, there wasn't too much information to be gathered here."
The mystery officer sighed with disappointment. "I know. Honestly, this is the worst case I've ever seen in my eight years of being on the force." There was a brief pause as he collected his thoughts. "My name is Scott McCreal, by the way."
The detective returned with, "I'm Bria Stellicus."
"Stellicus... oh, you're the chief's daughter, right? I've seen a few photos in his office." He paused and awkwardly laughed for a moment before adding in, "Sorry, that came out like I was a stalker. I've just noticed the photos before and recognized you from them is all."
Bria laughed as well. "It's fine, officer, I understand. You don't need to apologize for just so happening to recognize me from a photo or two in my dad's office."
Scott nodded, a sense of relief visible on his face. "You can call me Scott, Ms.Stellicus."
"Well, if we're going off of first names, you may as well call me Bria."
Before the pair could exchange any more words, a message came out through the speakers scattered throughout the extensive corridors:
"Attention! As many officers as possible are required to report to the Emerald Software Company headquarters. We have a code 187 and a potential 217, I repeat, a code 187 and a potential 217."
Scott paled and said, "A murder and an assault with attempt to murder? What on Earth is going on?"
"Not sure, but would it be alright if I went with you? In case I can get more evidence?"
The officer nodded, and the two of them rushed to put the evidence box back where it came from and run to Scott's police cruiser. Swiftly, Scott started the car and plugged the coordinates, his radio on for any new announcements. Bria anxiously clung to her notebook as they pulled out of the station and hurried to the crime scene.

Horror filled Bria's eyes as soon as she looked over the scene. An ambulance was on the scene, a stretcher team loading a man with purple and red hair into it. The man's suit was torn, and he had purple and crimson dragon wings. Slash marks coated the sleeves of the shirt, blood evidently seeping through. A stump of a tail was barely visible.
Across the way, lying in a blood puddle was a woman with gorgeous brown hair and jungle green eyes gone lifeless. Her silver wolf ears had been mutilated, strands of red hanging off her head, her tail in a similar condition, bone barely poking out. A bullet wound was right in her head, and an H was carved onto her arm, right through the silver business dress she was wearing.
Bria could feel the tears running down her face, but all of a sudden the rest of the world went silent and blurry. Flashbacks began to creep into her mind and grasp firmly onto her. A woman once with purple fox ears and a matching tail, once smiling, lying in her own puddle of red. Blond hair being tainted by the spill of innocent blood. An H was carved right into her back, which was visible when she was turned over to reveal the fatal shot to the ribs she had received.
Dizziness swarmed and took it's hold on the detective. All of a sudden, a red-haired figure was resting her onto a bench, seeming to be anxious. A notebook was rested by her side, opened to a page written in handwriting that wasn't her own.
"Ugh... w-what happened?" Her voice was plagued with so many emotions of grief, it was challenging to pinpoint exactly what she was thinking.
Officer McCreal sighed and replied, "You nearly passed out. Do you normally do this during your investigations?" The voice was caring and concerned for Bria, like an older sibling, or a second father.
Bria merely shook her head before whispering, "T-the murdered woman... t-that's my aunt... and my uncle... he's in the ambulance. "
Scott nodded, walking off to go check in with a group of officers examining the scene. Bria only now had noticed the new notes and realized Scott had written down what she might need to know due to her sudden flashback spell. She figured she would have to thank him for the favor at a later date, once the case was concluded.
In the distance, noises of a scuffle were barely audible to Bria. Thinking nothing of it, she went back to reading the notes. All of a sudden, one of the officers ran towards the others and shouted, "We have a man in custody!"
