You were lost.
Looking left and right, there was no place you knew that was familiar to you; you had wandered too far from home, and now there seemed to be no way back.
"Crap," You utter under your breath, looking up at the trees that surrounded you and the sky that was gradually getting darker. Night time was coming soon, yet here you were in the middle of no where, helplessly looking for your way back to the city.
I shouldn't have ventured so far...
You clench your fists at your sides, angry at yourself for having gotten yourself into this situation. There was probably no use searching for your way back in the dark, so you figured you would just have to wait out the night in the forests.
Choosing the nearest tree to you, you decide to climb it and spend the night hidden in its branches. You carefully pull yourself up the tree, stepping on branch after branch to carry yourself higher. High enough so that things like the Serpentine couldn't get to you while you slept.
You find a spot perfect enough for you to rest on, and you set aside your backpack that you'd carried with you to rest on a smaller branch beside the one you were on. You then lay back against the tree trunk and look up at the starry sky, awaiting for sleep to overtake your tired body...
~
You awaken later on to the sound of a large thump coming from the base of the tree you were sleeping in, and then you hear the ear-deafning roar of a rather large saw. You blink away the sleep in your eyes and frantically stretch to look over the edge of your branch.
You're able to see a huge machine of some sort parked at the bottom next to your tree, along with about five snakes standing around it talking, and one sitting inside the vehicle. It had a huge saw attached to the machine, and by the way it was positioned, it looked like they were about to cut down your tree.
"Silence! It's time we commence with the operation; quiet, you fools!" The snake inside the machine shouted, and the others immediately became silent. "Good. Now that I have your attention, it's time we start cutting down all these trees in the forest. That way, can get to work on building our new....."
The snake quickly pulled out a large blueprint from his seat and finished "Serpentine Supreme Snake Emporium!"
"Ooooo!" "Aaaaah!" "WOW!"
"Seriously...?" You muttered, glaring at the snakes unamused. Just when you thought Serpentine couldn't get any dumber...
You jump when you hear the machine staring up again, and the saw blade begins to come to life, spinning at an immense speed. The blade was sharp enough to cut down even the widest of trees in one swipe, which meant you were in serious danger—especially with how high up you were.
"Aww...crap..." You mumble, watching the machine begin to drive up closer to your tree. You quickly reach over and grab your backpack from off of its branch, slinging it onto your back, and you slowly stand up on the branch you were on, feeling everything around you beginning to shake.
"HELP!" You cry out, wrapping your arms around the trunk and watching with wide eyes as the saw began to slice into the tree.
You feel the tree leaning backwards as the saw cut through, and then slowly it began to fall over, you still clinging on with all your might.
You shut your eyes tightly when you feel yourself become lighter, and then the sensation of falling kicks in. Your scream pieced the air, and the serpents all looked up, seeing that a girl was falling from the same tree they were cutting.
This is it...this is the end! How could I be so stupi—!
Your thoughts were interrupted when something rough suddenly slams into your side, and you feel arms wrap tightly around your body. The warmth of another person could be felt against you, and you barely open your eyes to see what the heck had happened.
Something blue...something clothed in blue was holding you in its arms, but you couldn't really make out who or what it was due to the wind blurring your eyesight.
"Hang in there, everything's gonna be alright. I've got ya!"
Assured by those words, you close your eyes again and cling to the one that held you as you both plummeted to the ground. Before you actually hit the ground though, the person managed to land them self on the branch of a different tree, and from there they hopped off and landed on another one.
Like a ninja, they darted from tree branch to tree branch until finally they made a safe descent onto the forest floor. Once the feeling of falling was gone, you opened your eyes fully and blinked up at the one that was still holding you.
It was a male that wore fine blue garments, a Gi, with a blue mask that covered over his hair and face, only leaving his eyes to show. You noticed that his appearance was very similar to that of a Ninja...
"Hey there," The man greeted, gently placing you down on the ground. "Would love to chat with you and all—and by the way, you're welcome for the save—but right now I've gotta get back to those serpents and teach them a good lesson. Catch you in a bit?"
He spoke fast, and before you could reply or fully contemplate what was going on, the man had already sprung up into the air and dashed for the trees, leaping on branches again back to where the serpents were located with their machinery.
"A Ninja...." You murmured under your breath, "I can't believe I was just saved by one of the Ninja..."
