Erina had graduated from Totsuki, and was still headmistress of the school. During short breaks in the school year, she'd often visit her former classmates' restaurants.
But the one place she dreaded going to was Yukihira Diner. Erina was too arrogant to ever confess, which resulted in Souma getting engaged to a famous model. She didn't blame him; his fiance was everything she wasnt; kind, beautiful, humorous...Erina had to admit that she was extremely jealous of her.
There really was no way to avoid Erina. She had opened many restaurants in her spare time, and on one of the rare occasions that she was actually there, Souma absolutely had to be there. And, of course, he was here today as well.
"Yo! Nakiri!" Souma called, walking into the kitchens and waving at her with a cheeky grin. Erina's face heated up. "I-wha-you-no, I-...why are you here?!" She finally manage to sputter out. Souma reached into his pocket and pulled something out. "I wanted to personally invite you to me and Maiha's wedding! We're going to have it in 2 weeks, and I wanted you to be there."
He handed it to her, and Erina could feel a crack form in her heart. "Oh. Wonderful. If that's all, you can go." Erina said, her voice chilly. "Wah? You can't kick me out just yet! Since I'll be leaving tomorrow to move to Korea with Maiha, I wanted to try one last time to make you say "delicious" before I get wedded off!" Souma said, beaming.
"And I've already pre-made it, so you just have to try it." Souma placed a plate of katsudon in front of her, eagerly waiting for her reaction. Erina gingerly took a bite, savoring the crunchy, yet tender piece of meat in her mouth. "Awesome. Amazing. Show-stopping. Life changing." Erina said blandly, setting down her fork.
"Now get out of my restaurant; we're closed." Souma tried to protest. "Hey! You know as well as I do that that was the worst reaction ever. I-" Erina glared at him. "Eishi is waiting for me to return home, and doesn't want me to be late. So if you'll excuse me."
She pushed past him and slammed the kitchens door behind her. Tsk. Whatever. Hatsuko can close down the restaurant for me. Erina kicked at the pebbles on the ground angrily. No, she was not dating Tsukasa, and hadn't talked to him ever since he graduated. It was a lie to try and see if he would have a reaction, but it obviously didn't work.
She kicked a few more pebbles, tears welling in her eyes. How stupid of her to believe Souma ever had feelings for her. He just wanted her approval to feel better about himself. She opened her car door, got in, and closed the door. Erina let the tears fall freely, and began full on sobbing. The love of her life was getting married.
Her hands, still shaking, opened the letter.
