Alison's POV:
I've been standing here selling tickets to everyone for what seems like ever. It's Saturday night and I'm waiting for my boss to let me go because I'm tired. I send a quick message to Noah, my boyfriend, before putting my phone away.
"Standing still is nice isn't it"
I jump a little when I hear a boy's voice close to me. I could tell he worked in the back by the black shirt he was wearing.
"Honestly yeah, it is" I said a bit sarcastically. I didn't know the boy but he seemed nice. After making a few more comments and jokes, he left to get back to work. I continued for about an hour before I see the same boy from earlier run into the bathroom. He comes running out a few minutes later and walks up to me.
"I bet you I know what you're thinking right now." He was crazy energetic and talking super fast in my face but I didn't mind all that much which is a little weird.
"Oh so you can read my mind?" "Yes ma'am i can" he replied. "Alright bet what am I thinking?" I asked.
"Honey buns"
He made me laugh. I don't know why but this moment stuck to me. I knew me and him would end up being very close, not because of the actual honey buns but the way he was and how easy it was to talk to him.
After a full conversation, he then went on to introduce himself. "Oh i'm Alexander by the way nice to meet you" He sticks his hand out like a little gentleman and I shake it.
"I'm Alison. Nice to meet you too" I replied.
My boss then came from the back office and got Alexander in trouble for talking to me instead of working. I laughed at him for a moment before he gave me a side hug, said goodbye, and went back to work. Although I enjoyed talking to the boy, I didn't think we would actually ever talk again. Only the necessary greetings at work maybe. After my boss gives me the okay, I walk to the back to clock out and leave to go home. Once I arrive, I say goodnight to my parents and fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow.
The next morning I get a message from none other than Alexander. He had gone onto our work app to find my number which I thought was a bit creepy but I shrugged it off nonetheless. We went through all the small talk: "hey" "how are you" "what are you doing". It wasn't awkward at all though. There were no 'I don't know what to say anymore' moments. The conversation flowed naturally and I really enjoyed talking to him. I shoot him one last text before getting up and getting ready to go out.
Being Sunday afternoon, I went out to a few stores to buy a few things I needed. While in the parking lot of H&M, I get a message from Noah. Thinking it was my new friend, I pick up my phone only to be slightly disappointed. I lock my phone and pull out to go home. Noah is my boyfriend of about a year now and I love him no doubt but lately I haven't really been feeling our relationship. I don't know how to explain that to him though without hurting him so I've just stuck with him for a while now.
I arrive at home and sit down to eat and then gather some clothes to take a shower. After I finish showering, I hear a ding come from my phone. I open my phone to the lock screen and see that its Alexander. I smile a bit before replying to his simple 'hey'. We talked for the rest of the day just getting to know each other. It was already getting late when he told me he would make me homemade honey buns and bring them next time we worked together. I laughed to myself and agreed before telling him that I was heading to bed. We share goodnights and I look at the message from Noah that I received earlier.
"I love you so much Alison" it said.
I don't open it, nor do I reply. I lock my phone and put it on my bedside table before falling asleep.
