This week’s topic is how to act in a new environment. I received a few letters about people moving into college dorms or even people just changing grades!
I’d like to stress that a ‘change’ in the environment happens to everyone. If it hasn’t happened to you yet, it will soon enough. A change in environment can be anything from a new coffee stop to living in a new state or even country.
It is so important that if you see a new face on your daily route, to just acknowledge them. It can be a universal head nod or just even a smile. Just the basic gesture that you notice them could actually make their transitions easier.
Also, if you are a person who is dealing with the new situation, try to find the silver lining. The bright side, whatever you prefer just look for the good that change can bring among us. Try to understand that with a change in environment, you can try to reinvent yourself. You won’t be labeled fake or anything like that. As long as you want to better yourself as a person or just simply explore around with new ideas, as long as it makes you happy and doesn’t cause harm to anyone. Who’s to tell you no? If you want to be less anti-social, talk more.
Now, I know that is a lot easier said than done, but the more you try, the easier it gets. Trust me. Start by complimenting someone, or even just telling someone to have a nice day/night. It’s a simple yet grand gesture, Smile more. Enjoy yourself more. Just try to worry less about the things that may drive you insane and try to enjoy yourself and your surroundings.
Learn about the stars, learn how they shine for each and every single one of you.
