Sometimes I wonder why I'm so awkward. Especially around Mr. Mystery Man. Nevermind, I'm always awkward.
"So..." Peyton said as we exited the classroom. "My next class is music, what's yours?"
"Woah, I have music too! Are you sure our schedules aren't duplicated?" I exclaimed.
"Hah, do you play any instruments? We're going to start band in a few weeks. We get to choose our partners, want to be mine?" She interrogated.
"Yeah, I do play the piano, and the violin, I took lessons when I was a kid for about 4 years. Violin lessons on Sunday, and piano lessons on Mondays." I explained.
"Dude... Those are pretty hard to play, well... for me. I only know how to play the recorder from elementary, and a ukulele. I probably don't even know how to play the recorder anymore." She laughed
"Hey, each year, they hold talent shows here. Maybe you should play an instrument." She offers.
"I don't really like being the spotlight in front of a massive crowd." I spoke.
"What a bummer, you're probably really good at playing the piano or a violin, I bet you're also really good at singing."
"Pfftt, me? Haha..."
Soon, the bell had rung. Our next class! Time for music class.
"Let's get going, you do NOT want to be late for music class. Ms- Madam Lambert. She's a French woman with an ear for music. It's truly her passion. Just don't be late for music class." She said as we started to walk to the music room.
We both headed to class on time. Phew, I wonder what she does when someone's late... yikes.
"Ooo, a new student! Welcome!" Madam Lambert sang.
"Hi, Ms. Lambert." I said in an American accent.
"Non, non, Madam Lahmbearrr. Rouler le r, s'il vous plaît." She carefully explained.
"Je m'excuse, madame, savez vous que je parle le Français aussi?"
English Translation: I'm sorry, madam, did you know that I speak French as well?
"Ooo, j'aime toi." She smiled.
We all took our seats on the pink chairs behind the music stands. Apparently, we had assigned seats, I wasn't sat next to Peyton. I sat beside with other people that I don't recognize.
"Okey, it's our first music class on the first day of school. I want to know the instruments that people play." Madam Lambert said as she started to point to some people.
Most of the people played the guitar, some of them played the piano, only around 4 though. Some people call them the 4 Canadian Pianists, apparently they would always stay inside during our free periods to practice playing the pianos in the music room whenever the room is free.
When Madam Lambert pointed to me, I stood up.
"Uh, I p-play the piano and the v-violin." I stuttered.
Like I said, I hate being the 'spotlight'.
The 4 pianists looked at me in shock.
"Finally, a person that can play the piano that isn't us... They muttered.
"Hah, probably isn't as good as us..." They scoffed while whispering.
Is it just me, or do I have good ears? I could so clearly hear what they're saying. I'm pretty sure everyone in the whole room could hear them.
The time has passed, soon the bell had rung. Again. We had some time to spare. I was walking along the halls in this huge building, I heard a voice behind me.
"Hey, I want to see you play the piano." Said the voices of 4 people.
I rolled my eyes and turned around. I wasn't really expecting this, my first day of school wasn't close to ending yet my day has already been REALLY interesting.
I raised a brow.
"...Sure." I said skeptically.
They seemed really pleased, this high school is really interesting, oh, and weird...
We went into the music room, luckily, it was free.
We approached the grand piano and they all started playing all together on that one piano.
They all started to play Beethoven, "Moonlight Sonata", the simplified version. It was a pretty easy piece to play... And it's easier for them because they have 4 people playing at once.
Once they finished the song, they all stood up and bowed to me. T'was really funny.
"That's all you got? You know that was the simplified version, right? You're acting really full of yourself."
I started to play Moonlight Sonata, alone, and the regular version.
I started playing and playing. The boys looked as shocked as they were when they found out that I also played the piano.
Once I finished playing, I didn't stop there, I continued to play some more Beethoven, "Für Elise". One of the most popular and hardest piece to play on the piano. As a child, my grandpa always listened to me when I played Für Elise, I'm not going to lie, I was pretty scared of him so I made sure to do my best.
They were amazed and speechless, but they also seemed embarrassed.
I left the room and I bumped into a guy on the way out.
"I-I'm very sorry." I apologized
I looked up and stared at his deep hazel eyes. You guessed it, Mr. Mystery Man. I started to turn into a pale red.
"No, no, it's my fault, I shouldn't have blocked the door in the first place." He smiled.
"Oh, by the way, you're really GOOD at playing the piano. How did you learn how to play like that?'" He interrogated
"Oh, I learned from the strictness of my gra- I took piano lessons for 4 years during my childhood." I explained.
"Do you play any other instruments?" He asked.
"Yeah, I played the violin for 4 years as well.". I added.
"Oh, by the way, I never really got your name..." He mentioned.
"Oh, right, Evee Norman."
"Your name is very nice... Noah Robertson."
"I like your name even better."
He laughed lightly.
We stared at each other for at least 5 minutes until we were rudely interrupted.
