A barricade blocks
Old memories
A mask is worn
To disguise emotions
Pain and anger
Deep within
Indifference or joy
The upper layer
Memories or thoughts
Haunt her everyday
But none are the wiser
To see what’s beneath
They pass her in the halls
Not even a “Hello”
They see her online
There’s no “How are you?”
Wish only someone
Could see past the wall
And could alleviate the pain
That she bears everyday
Hidden beneath
A cloak of invisibility
