#AIFPROLOGUE

I was being checked by a nurse when I heard the sound of the opening door.

I smiled at him. "Kal..."

"How are you? It's almost 5pm. Usually, Kal will arrive at exactly 4:30.

I gave him an assuring smile, "it's fine, Kal. You don't need to explain naman."

"So, how's my cousin?" Nakangiti niyang tanong.

"Still the same, Kal. I'm getting better already."

Tumango-tango siya. Hindi magtagal ay ngumiti siya nang malapad. "By the way, I have some good news for you."

Kumunot ang noo ko. Good news? What is it?

"Because of your fast recovery, the doctor said that you may now go home." Masaya niyang saad.

I felt a pang of pain in my chest because of the 'good news' he was talking about. For them, it was a good news, but for me, it's not. How can I go home when I don't have home already? I'm all alone. My father died during my graduation day. My mother left me when I was still a kid. I don't have siblings. I only have my cousin which is Kaleb and his parents.

"I don't want to go home, Kal. I can't. I can't live alone. I want to stay here."

"What are you saying, Jam? Of course you're not going to live all by yourself. As if we would let that happen. I won't let that happen, cous. You're going to stay at our house. It was my parents' idea, actually.

Nanatili akong tahimik.

"And also, next month, you'll be attending your class already. Nai-pass na nila Mama ang recquirements mo. You have nothing to worry about. Presence mo nalang ang kulang. You have atleast a month to adjust and get ready. Babalik ka na, Jam."
