Kira. Just the very name drives me insane. To think that there is someone out there able to kill without having to actually be there makes my skin crawl. How could someone be so careless? How could someone take another human's life and not even think of what it could be worth? I have seen dreadful cases in my many years as a detective, but this one is taken to an ultimate extreme. I swear, whoever this Kira is, this child-like and immature criminal, will be brought to justice. I don't care how long it takes me.
"Watari?" I call out monotonously in the midst of my frustration. He appears almost immediately.
"Yes, L?"
I hold out my tea cup. "Could you get me another refill please?"
My assistant takes the cup from me, and before leaving asks "Would you like another piece of cake as well?" I look down at my plate, noticing that I only have about a fourth of the portion I started with. Hm. I thought I had more.
"Yes please." I reply simply. "In fact," I go on, scratching my barefoot with my other one. "Make it two."
