The Eulengeister are those born with an innate, deep connection to the human psyche, named so for their nocturnal nature and their abilities that transcend beyond our mortal realm (such as astral projection). This line of humanity had originated from Germany, but, due to discrimination from the rest of us, they had scattered their presence all over the world with small villages.
Though the label "common enemy" could be placed upon the shoulders of any one of us, there is one in particular who is known to go by the name "Nar Azim," a non-corporeal entity that can manipulate its form at will and targets the Eulengeister out of fear and the perception of them as an obstacle to his ultimate goal. However, whichever form he decides to take upon, his expression always remains: a wide, otherworldly smile.

The Eulengeister's psionic abilities seem originate from some kind of manifestation of it that resides in their amygdala, usually conquering a half of it and creating an emotional callous. It is there to protect the bearer, as more extreme emotions (such as anger) can strengthen their abilities.
However, if these abilities were to be exploited or too powerful for the bearer, it can result in migraines that leave them vulnerable, as any pain in their head might do - if that was escalated even further, the consequences can be much more dire.

The typical Eulengeist has their psionic power and emotions in a balanced 1:1 ratio: a person with a slightly handicapped capacity to emote as well as bear psionics. These are the modal result when these people are born. The less typical are those born with an uneven ratio, be it 2:1 or 1:2, the former being an increased emotional callous and power and the latter being on the contrary. It seems to be that the size of the part that their psionic power conquers depends entirely on genetics.

The way they can be identified is by their eyes, but not much is known of this as they always keep them concealed. They do not seem to need them.
