Beverly marsh stepped outside into the cold air, her creased doc martins hitting the ground at neck-breaking speed. her old high school was shrinking away behind her. she was done. no more tardies, no more school counselors asking her where all her bruises were from, no more calls home due to her skipping...

she had done it. somehow, she had graduated. she was quickly pulled out of her thoughts as she neared the street to her house, her happiness fading. her feet dragged as she walked down the street toward her house. her broken, ugly house. she shoved her earbuds in in a desperate attempt to block everything out of her mind.

she walked up the creaking steps and opened the door. the tv was playing, beer cans and trash scattered throughout the kitchen and living room. thankfully her dad was nowhere to be seen. she flopped onto her duvet, staring at a map on her wall, pins sticking out of it like a cactus. like most kids in her town, she had never been outside of derry. her travel had been confined to the small town, and she was ready to just leave. she wanted to be able to go to a different store than just the corner store. she wanted to meet new people, different people.
she wanted to see things and experience things. most of all, she wanted to be a little less lonely. she quickly got out of her bed and went to find her father. he was sprawled our on the couch, watching T.V. and- what a surprise- drinking.
"I'm leaving." she mumbled as she started shoving many items in her warn out backpack. she was going to get on the road as fast as she could.
"where to?" her excuse for a father questioned. she scoffed as she pulled food out of the cabinet.
"wherever i want." she stated while she grabbed her car keys, "like you'd care."
her father said no more. her phone buzzed, the screen glowing with a text from her best friend, richie.

-
rich- where u going? saw you walk out of your house not stalking u i promise 🤠
-
bev smiles to herself. at least someone was keeping an eye on her... at least someone cares about her. she loved richie, but he could be a bit much. she needed this alone time away from Derry. she typed out a fast message and shut her phone off.
-
bev- nowhere important. be back soon. xx

Bill Denbrough is currently contemplating death. you may think he was in a depressive episode. if so, this was season 7, episode 5. the darkness of his room contrasted with his pale skin, his bland room just making him sadder by the minute. a sudden shattering sound from the other side of his wall distracted him from unpacking his school bag. he stepped into the lit hallway outside of his room and crept toward the other room.
he peeked inside, and found his mother crying, a broken frame and a ripped picture on her lap. bill decided he didn't want to interrupt her sobbing session, so he grabbed his skateboard from the garage and a couple bucks from his mothers purse.
bill headed towards a small convenient store near his house where he bought gummy worms and doritos. nothing like sugar and junk food for dinner. just as he was taking off to go back home on his skateboard, his leg slipped out from under him and he hit the ground. a dull pain started in his knee. he looked down to blood and ripped skin.
'fuck.' he mumbled to himself. suddenly, a flash of red hair and a hand was pushed in front of his face. he grabbed it, blushing from embarrassment.
'are you okay??' the red head said. he got distracted by her freckles and her eyes for a few seconds before responding.
'uh yeah. just a small scrape... nothing bad. thanks though!' bill took his hand away from hers a little too late. why couldn't he do anything without being awkward??
'okay we'll be safe.' the girl said. the. she was heading back to her car. bill started to skate away, trying to forget how embarrassing that was. he had it almost erased from his mind when the girl pulled up next to him a few minutes later.
'hey weird question. you can totally not trust me and say no. but if you don't have to be somewhere do you want to take a road trip? i know you have parents probably and stuff but i just thought i would do something crazy for once-'
bill cut her off, 'uh yeah. sounds fun.'

he really hoped she wasn't a serial killer.
