As she promise in her letter, Rose never bother me again in the office ; she came, did her job and left. She seems to be doing good because Julia came to congratulate me on her training two week after. I just shrugged it off.
Jade kept her promise so far and everyday update me with the situation of her crush, who by the way acted like she had never kissed my little sister. Jade is not a happy camper, but since she can't come out yet she doesn't really fight it.
She did insist on teaching me sign language so I can communicate with Rose better. She told me that Rose most feel like an alien around us, an outcast, and that probably some of my coworkers were making fun of her; which was true. But she paid no mind to them, just like me she just ignore them.
As the shift ended I grabbed my stuff, thankful for Fridays, and walked to the elevator. As the door started to close, I heard running heels so I put my hand out for stopping the doors. Entering no other than Rose, with a very labored breathing.
"Thank you." She sign to me, taking a deep breath.
"You're welcome." I sign back and looked forward.
Maybe I should invite her to eat a snack or something... I don't know, Jade is probably right. I don't think she have many friends, she barely look at her phone while working or at lunch break. She's always alone and  I know how that truly feels; how hard that is... What the hell am I thinking? I can't even...
I turn to look at her and see that she's looking at me stunned.
"Are you okay?" I sign to her and her eyes widened.
"You are learning to sign?" She asked me.
It took me a little to get it, since I'm still learning, but I smiled a little when I understood.
"Yeah, my sister is teaching me." I sign back, Jade made sure I learned that, she wanted to make sure I told Rose it was her.
"Thank you for learning." She sign back a little slower this time, a smile on her lips.
Before I could overthink it I asked her if she wanted to grabbed a coffee with me. The I wanted to slapped myself, who wants coffee at five thirty? Not everyone was me for Christ sake. But that was the first invitation Jade taught me because we worked in an office and drank a lot of coffee.
"I love to." She answered with a smile.
"Follow me?" She nod and we went to our cars; I took her to my favorite coffee place without a doubt.
While we had our coffee I learned she liked it black and with no sugar, personally I think that's the most disgusting thing ever. We went to our table and drank it in silence.
This felt good, the silence and yet not been alone. She looked at me and smile, she put her mug down.
"It's really good." She sign.
"My favorite place." I told her and she nod as she read my lips.
"Thank you." She sign.
"What for." I said.
She sign something that I didn't understand and she smile, taking her notepad out.
"For inviting me." She wrote.
I grabbed her pen and notepad.
"No problem, I though you were gonna said no, you know since is just coffee."
She read it and chuckled weirdly.
"I love coffee." She reply. "Thank your sister for me, for teaching you sign language."
"I will, she will be ecstatic to hear it. But she's on finals so we haven't be able to practice much anymore."
"I could teach you... If you like of course."
"I like that, I would really love to understand you more than half of the things you said to me without having to write the down."
     She smiled.
"Okay then, just tell me when."
"How about... one hour everyday after work."
"Sounds like a plan."
