I look at the watch for the umpteenth time, he is still not here. Way to woe a girl, Mr. Tardiness, I think sarcastically.

It's my first date with my ever-so-persistent colleague, Mike. I have always shrugged him off with some excuse or other, until yesterday. I had to accept his proposal of a date with him last night, he had Tina and Em supporting him. I'm not one to easily give in, mind you. But when majority of my best friends are for something, I'm helpless.

Now, I'm waiting for him in the cafe for about half an hour, no text or call from him informing about his absence. I'm getting impatient, I hate waiting, for anyone except my besties. Deciding to leave, I ask for the bill and get out of the cafe after paying for my latte. As I walk along the sidewalk, I call Em, to give her a piece of my mind.

"Hey, Li, what's up? Howz the date going?"

"Em, I hate to say it, but he stood me up. There's no date. And there never will be ever with him. I so hate you and Tina, you are my enemies from now on. I'm gonna get my revenge from you two. Oh my bruised ego!" I sigh melodramatically.

"What are you saying?" She screeches so loudly that I have to put the phone away from my ears. "How could he? Did he give you the reason?" Now she sounds a bit calm.

"No text, no call. Nada."

I reach the road crossing and scan it for any sign of incoming Grimm Reapers on wheels. Finding nothing coming my way, I go to cross it. Em is saying something but I'm more focused on the road. Still, like out of thin air a car comes into my direction, so suddenly that I have no time to react. Panicked, I close my eyes, call my parents in my mind and tell them that I'm finally going to meet them.

I wait for a second, two more, and then some. But the crash doesn't come as I have anticipated. I slowly take a peek at what's happening. There stands a car, inches from crashing into me, but the ignition is cut. I open my eyes fully and look around. People have gathered around the scene. Someone from the bystanders come to me asking if I'm hurt anywhere. I shake my head in negative. Then as if in slow motion the car's door to the driver's side opens and out comes a man, royally pissed off. I'm taken aback looking at this gorgeous specimen of men.

"What were you thinking crossing a road with phone attached to your ears?"

"I wasn't even listening to the phone. I was totally focused on the road. You came out of nowhere, cuz I had checked the road. It's your fault, don't try to___"
He doesn't let me finish. Holding up his forefinger he motions me to stop talking.

"You stupid, careless girl. I don't care if you want to die or live. But not in front of my car. It's brand new and it has a purpose to serve in it's life, unlike some people. So get out of my way, I'm already late for my meeting." saying that he turns around going for the car. Once he is seated, he takes something out of his folder that is placed on the passenger seat, writes something on it, and throws it my way.

"If you have any scratches, go to a hospital and get treated. Fill any number in the blank space, you will get paid."

Only then I look at the piece of paper lying near my feet, I pick it up. It's a fricking blank check. By the time I have some retort ready, he speads away in his class-a*hole car.

"You b*stard, sonavabetch. I will kill you if I ever see you again." I walk away from the scene huffing, leaving the onlookers confused. Right that moment I notice that I had dropped my phone on the road and that spoiled brat has driven over it, murdering my baby in cold blood.

"Ugh" I let out a little scream of frustration and anger, pulling my hair. It was the first phone I had bought with my own money. Now, it is gone forever.
