9: Made Over

A few months later after all of my combat training was done, I was onto the other phase. I guess the company was tired of my Plain Jane looks because today, My whole look was getting drastically altered. From today on I would no longer be wearing glasses or wearing baggy clothes. Id have to wear something fashionable all the time, unless I was off the clock... which at this point, would be never. Eric came to wake me up that morning, just not by words.

I felt something soft hit me and then heard a snicker come from the corner. I popped up startled and disoriented and looked over at Eric who was still laughing. I noticed a small pillow on the floor next to my bed. He could be such a child sometimes! 

"Good morning." He smiled 

"Good morning. What are you doing?" I asked 

"Waking you up."

"You know, any normal person would just try shaking me softly awake."

"Well, I guess I am just not normal." He replied sardonically

"Just my luck." I said dryly

"Okay, so you're going to the salon to get your hair done and then getting make up, manipedi and some contacts of course." He said, quickly changing the subject 

"Oh joy." I said blandly 

"He make over hasn't even happened yet. You might like the results." He said 

"I guess Eric. Listen, I'm gonna take a shower and get dressed, I'll meet you in the lobby." 

"Okay, I'll see you in a few." He said 

                                                             ~ At the Hair Solon~ 

Eric had dropped me off here an hour ago and I was just getting in the chair. This is what I hated about salons, they took forever to get out of which Is why I just did my hair myself. The warm, cascading water fell over my head. I closed my eyes while my stylist massaged my scalp. The sweet smell of Almond & Cherry shampoo filled my nose. And within five minutes, it was all over. I had to admit, it was nice to be pampered once in awhile

I was ushered toward his chair where he gave me a layered cut. 

"Would you like color, Evangeline?"Armondo asked me. 

"No, I'll get to color the next time." I smiled 

"Ahh, keeping it safe i see. Sweetie, a beauty like yourself should show it off sometimes. You have such nice eyes and cheek bones, why must you hide it?" He said

"I don't think i'm beautiful." I said nonchalantly

"Nonsense dear! I swear by the end of today, you'll think differently." 

"We'll see." I smiled

"But I have to say, your hair is beautiful. I love the color." 

My hair was naturally auburn. And I had light brown eyes but I never made their presence known. Sometimes I forgot that I had light brown eyes.

"Now, close your eyes while I cut." He instructed

I closed my eyes as he cut and blow dried my hair in to style. When he was finished, I wasn't allowed to see it just yet. Next was my mani-pedi. My feet were placed into a  warm foot bath while my hands were serviced too. I just let them go to work. A few hours later, I was done and ready to go. 

"Now, would you like to see your new look?" Armondo asked me

"Yes." I beamed, heart beating with anticipation.

"Alright."

Slowly I was turned towards  the mirror and was amazed at what I saw. All I could do was stare at the new me in amazement.

"It's the new you. Do you like it?" Armondo asked quietly

"I love it." I smiled at him

"You look beautiful Evangeline, take care, we'll see you soon."

I got up from the chair and said an excited goodbye to everyone. I looked out of the door and saw that  Eric was out front. I slid into the car and buckled myself in.

"So how was it?" He asked, not looking at me just yet.

"It wasn't too bad. I wouldn't mind doing it only once a month."

"Well that's great to hear. Do you like your new look?"

"No, I think i look even worse than when i started." I teased, baiting him

It worked because he finally looked towards me.

"What are you talking abou-"

I smirked as his whole demeanor changed and his eyes got wide. I guess I really did have it going on.

"Made you look." I asked smirked

"Wow, look at you." He said in awe

"Yep." I smiled bashfully

I saw the distinct flush creeping across his cheeks and gracing the tops of his ears. I stifled a laugh as he quickly turned away from me and started the car.

"Okay, time for the eye doctor." He said, clearing his throat

I could so get used to this.

                                                     ~ At The Eye Doctor~ 

I sat in the eye exam chair while the doctor examined my eyes and wrote some things down in a chart. I was then brought into a room to wait while my contacts were being made. I decided to read some of the pamphlets they had in the room. The wait didn't take long at all. Although it had taken awhile for me to get the contacts in, because I seldom wore them. My glasses were always my go to.  After blinking and rolling my eyes around a couple of times, the contacts finally settled and I found that I could see clearer with contacts than I did with glasses.

"How do they feel?" The doctor asked 

"They're great, very comfortable." I smiled 

"They look great on you," She complimented 

"Thank you. If you don't mind, may I wear these out?" 

"Yes ma'am. They've already been paid for so you're good to go. Call if there are any problems with the contacts." she replied

"I will. Thank you." I said 

I got up and walked out of the little office. I walked up to Eric. 

"I'm ready to go." 

He took one look at me and started smiling. 

"Okay. You hungry?" he asked 

"I'll eat something back at head quarters" I said 

He stood up and held the door open for me. 

"Thank you." I said walking out of the door 

"My pleasure." He said silkily

My inner Evangeline squealed. Even I noticed how weird Eric was being now. I wonder if that would happen with other men. I swear I heard Eric whisper a "wow" behind me as we walked back to his car. I swear Eric's eyes looked at me on and off the ride. I smiled silently to myself all the way home.

I was so getting used to this!
