EXT. T.A.R.D.I.S, AMUSMENT PARK – OCTOBER, AFTERNOON

The T.A.R.D.I.S lands in the middle of a big amusement park. Children scream and laugh inside of rollercoasters. People stand around watching and eating to keep themselves warm. Many different sources of loud music merge to an overwhelming carpet of sound accompanied by coloured light flashes from the fairground rides.

The T.A.R.D.I.S appears close to a carousel with deafening waltz music and ponies circulating. The doctor opens the door. Smoke comes out the T.A.R.D.I.S. He gets overwhelmed by the noisiness and lights and shrieks, shutting the door close again.

Seconds pass. He slowly opens the door again and pulls his head out carefully.

THE DOCTOR

 (To himself, upset)

Blimey, these pudding brains!

The Doctors steps out the T.A.R.D.I.S cautiously. He is wearing his long dark coat. He is trying to warm up his hands. The wind is blowing. A young boy bumps into him and then continues running. The Doctor sighs and looks around with a disgusted grimace on his face. A policeman is running from the same direction as the little boy.

POLICEMAN

(Furious, yelling)

Stop that boy! Stop him!

The Doctors turns around curious about this incident and watches the policeman finally catching the boy. The boy is fighting back and screaming something, but the policeman immobilizes him.

THE BOY

(Desperately screaming)

You don’t understand! Listen to me, there is something wrong with them, I saw it!

The policeman takes the boy away, dragging him as the boy is still fighting back. His voice starts to fade away as they lose themselves in the crowd.

The Doctor follows them, trying to get closer.

THE BOY

(Screaming and punching)

They go in there and when they come out they just keep repeating things! You heard them too, something is wrong!

The Doctor hears everything and is in shock for a few seconds. He looks puzzled as he is trying to remember where he saw this before. He decided to approach the policeman and the boy to ask more questions.

THE DOCTOR

Excuse me, sir?

The policeman ignores him. The boy notices the Doctor. He stops screaming and start pretending he knows the Doctor.

THE BOY

(Pretending)

Jackson! Thank God you’re here! Please tell him to let me go, please!

The Doctor is confused, but plays along.

THE DOCTOR

(Clears his throat)

Yes, let him go, please. This is my little brother… Alonso. Yes, Alonso!

The policeman looks suspicious, but intrigued. The Doctor continues talking.

THE DOCTOR

I’m sorry if he caused any troubled. You know how kids nowadays are…

The policeman lets go of the boy. The latter steps away from him and take the Doctor’s hand.

THE DOCTOR

(Talking fast)

You have children too, don’t you? That’s so sweet. Send them my best regards. To your wife too. Lovely woman, such a lovely woman!

The Doctor and the boy walk again, smiling and waving, leaving the policeman very suspicious and confused.

THE BOY

Thank you… I suppose.

THE DOCTOR

You’re welcome… I suppose.

THE BOY

(Being arrogant)

I didn’t need your help. I had the situation under control.

THE DOCTOR

(Mockingly)

Oh, yes! I’m sure you did.

The policeman finishes talking in his station.

THE POLICEMAN

(Angrily)

Oi! You two, stop right now!

The Doctor and the boy hear him and stop.

THE DOCTOR

Now what, Mr.-the-situation-is-under-control?

THE BOY

Now… run!

THE DOCTOR

(Excited)

Ha-ha! That’s more like it!

They both start running, while the policeman is yelling after them. The policeman loses them in the crowd.
