A young girl woke up in tears. She cried for a while. She despised the life she was given. Though she hadn't lived long, the 12 years she lived were filled with pain and suffering. She'd gone so long without happiness she even forgot how to  smile. She only had very faint recollections of kindness, a hopeless desire for warmth, and a dying ember of hope that things would get better. She tried to put and end to things once, but she failed. She was even mocked for her failure when her schoolmates saw the mark that her attempt had made. She was such a failure she couldn't even end things right, that's what they'd told her. They saw what could've been her final cry for help and used it as a way to rub salt in the wound. She eventually wiped her tears and put on her meek yet neutral facade. She got changed into her school's uniform. With her white button up, navy blue blazer, and navy blue skirt at a glance she seemed like any other girl going to her school. She took a shaky breath and headed off to school or, as she called it, Hell.

As she stepped toward the gates of Hell, her anxiety rose with each step. She never managed to mentally prepare herself to face the demons that infested the school. Each day she dreaded taking those steps into school and being subjected to mental and emotional torture from classmates and other students. Each day she dreaded having her heart and mind ripped into by the demon infested hellhole she had to attend.

"It's okay Vanessa. It's just another day of the same old thing." She whispered to seemingly no one. She sighed.

"Kylee, we can go see if I have any money to get ice cream after school." She seemed to be whispering to people despite no people actually being present to talk to her back. To everyone else at her school she was just crazy, whispering to her imaginary friends when she should've out grown them at this point. To her they were the main way she managed to cope with the shitty deck she'd been dealt, they were also her only friends.

While she whispered to her friends she could feel the judgmental stares from the other students bore holes into her very soul. Instinctively she curled in on herself slightly to hide away, making herself seem smaller.

Quietly she started to head to her locker to get her things for first period. On her way to her locker she was harshly shoved by whomever she decided to pass, as she was getting pushed someone had tripped her. When she fell over she heard quite a few snickers coming from around her. She could feel the judgment of her peers as their stares locked on to her like the laser sights of a squad of gunmen. She tried to get up as quickly as she could, keeping her eyes focused on the ground as she didn't want to see the smug faces surrounding her. She quickly walked the rest of the way to her locker, imputing the code on combination lock of her locker, she opened it and was fast in getting when she needed for her first period class. Once she made sure she had all she needed she shut and locked the locker.

She ran to her next class, making sure to avoid as many people as possible. Just like always, she was the first one in her class. She let out a sigh of relief to be away from malicious prying eyes. Taking her time, she walked to her desk at the back of the classroom. She sat down, took out her notebook and began to sketch in one of the empty pages. Her drawing took all her focus, she didn't notice the other students when they began to fill up the class, she didn't notice the stragglers that arrived only mere minutes before the teacher, she didn't notice the teacher calling the class to pay attention.

"Ava!" Her teacher called sternly. Ava raised her head from her drawing to see the whole class looking over at her.

"Can you please pay attention? I have an important announcement." As the teacher said this there were a couple of quiet snickers and giggles among her classmates.

"I will Miss." Ava answered timidly. She hated being the centre of attention, it only made things worse for her in the long run and made her very anxious and self conscious.

"Good. Now, I'd like to announce that we have a new student with us this year."
