THAT was the best night ever.
OUR night.
The first but not last one.
The beginning of something magical, that might be over now.

Still shivering I get to my feet again. Several people have walked past me but fortunately nobody has paid closer attention. For once I'm grateful for drugs and alcohol that most likely are responsible for night people's ignorance. It's now 2:38AM and I decide to go back to the hotel room before I catch a cold out here.

When I arrive in the suite everything looks exactly the way I left it. It's frustrating how I expect Adam to suddenly be back every time I enter the place. Every single time I get disappointed...of course. This is like a really bad nightmare and I just want to wake up from it.

After changing back into my PJ's I cuddle up in the bed again and close my eyes. For a second everything feels warm and just peaceful but of course the impression isn't permanent – flashbacks of Adam's skin on mine...his arm around me when I fell asleep...The memories fill my heart with grief and anger.

I open my eyes again, grab a pillow lying next to me and throw it against the door. I suppress my need to scream and start to sob quietly instead. Wrapping both arms around another pillow I now begin to cry heavily.

It can't go on like this...

Adam's POV
Pain. All I feel is pain.

My whole body is burning and my head feels like it is might as well going to explode any second.

Somehow I get to open my eyes slowly but the light blinds me immediately and causes an ear-piercing tinnitus.

Where the fuck am I?
I try to remember what could've brought me into this situation but I can't get hold of even a single memory.
The tinnitus drowns out my thoughts.

Suddenly I hear voices...but only snippets of what they actually say. "...stable again...four days...call...now..."

Once again I try my best to open my eyes but I can't-
The voices begin to fade...the tinnitus gets louder and louder and then everything is black again.

Lily's POV
It's been another awful night because of course I didn't get even a single hour of sleep since I came back from my walk. Still I'm in the car again at 6:30AM, already on my way to the hospital.

When I arrive at the parking lot it's almost empty so I park close to the main entrance. Inside the building I step into the lift and press "3" for the correct floor.

The lift doors open with the ordinary "bing" sound and I step out of it already heading towards the waiting area as a nurse stops me. "Miss, Mr Wiles woke up. We were just about to call you! The doctor told me to inform you that he is able to receive guests now. Still he wants to confer with you about Mr Wiles' current condition first."

These are exactly the news I've been waiting for so long. Thanks god he survived! The feelings start to run wild in my head and I really have to try hard to stay calm. How bad are the injuries? Will he be fully ok again? What will the doctor tell me now?

I address a quick "Thank you!" to the nurse and before she even has the chance to add something I rush towards the office of the station's head physician's at the end of the corridor where I already had an interlocution about Adam's condition at the beginning of the week.

I knock at the door and wait to be asked in. "Come in!" A voice sounds from the inside. I open the door and first notice how heavily my hands are shaking. Inside Dr J. Davidson is standing behind his huge, wooden desk by the window at the opposite side of the door awaiting me already.

"Good morning Ms Oakford!"

He steps aside his desk and makes a few steps forward to shake my hand salutatory. He's smiling an accentuated friendly smile but I can tell by his body language that it's just to comfort me. Understandable though, I haven't properly slept ever since Sunday and I'm sure I must look terrible.

He asks me to sit down and heads to his seat behind the desk. As we're both seated he fetches a large folder from then left side of his desk which is titled with "Adam R. Wiles". Before he starts to talk he opens the folder and unfolds a bunch of papers.

"Mr Wiles woke up from his coma two hours ago. We've undertaken some first tests and fortunately he is physically well." Thank you, dear lord. "As soon as he will have recovered from his bone fractures he will be perfectly fine."

Dr Davidson hesitates before he's bringing up the next subject. "Unfortunately Mr Wiles psychological condition however remains unclear. He has huge memory gaps. We asked him questions about past events and it seems like he has no memory of the past two years."
