When I awoke the sun was shining directly overhead. The sun was warm. The alarm clock beside my bed indicated 7:50a.m. in large orange numbers. I jumped to my feet suddenly realizing I had overslept-- again. Panicked, I rapidly rushed into my compact washroom. There were dark circles beneath my light eyes, my hair was in a lumpy ponytail, and my face was so pale and drawn, I looked ill. I breathed out another sigh and pulled my bronze curls into a somewhat decent low ponytail, then splashed ice cold water on my face.
"Ugh, I'm a complete mess!" I whispered slightly under my breathe.
I lazily walked over to my mess of a closet and lugged open the partly broken door. I scrambled to find a fresh pair of jeans and a hoodie which is preferably black. Bingo! I dashed into the washroom once again and slipped the hoodie over my tank, and slide into the jeans.
"8:07? Perfect!"
I rush downstairs, practically skipping 2 steps at a time.
"Crud! My backpack! It's upstairs."
I raced up the entire flight of stairs still out of breathe and entered my room. I steadily made my way through the piles of clothes and trash scattered almost everywhere. The floor was barely visible, but I had zero time to lecture myself about my lack of organization. I scanned the floor, searching eagerly for the bright red fabric that made up my backpack. I glanced around and saw a tiny piece of red barely peeking out from beneath my unmade bed.
"YES!" I exclaimed
I pulled my backpack out from underneath my bed and swung it swiftly over one shoulder. I walked towards the door and down the narrow hall. The sound of yelling filled my ears as I made my way down the stairs for the 2nd time. It was now surprisingly normal to hear my parents fighting on a regular basis. I was use to it. I grabbed a granola bar from the pantry, and stumbled over to the front door. I struggled to put on my shoes with one hand but eventually got it. I rushed out the door and didn't even bother saying goodbye to my parents because they were to busy fighting over who knows what.
