Chapter 1: Once Upon A Time

"Robbie please come and at least try to make the place seem presentable for our guest" groaned Jennifer. I looked up from the Rolling Stones magazine I was reading.

"I don't see the point" I told her candidly. "The part of Wendy is cursed. Every time we hire an actress something bad happens to her and she can't play the role. There was Freya who fell down the stairs, Dakota who had boyfriend issues..."my voice trailed off as I recounted to her all the unfortunate episodes that had befallen at the set. "I just kind of have a feeling that this girl will be here to stay" Jennifer said thoughtfully.

"Are you gonna go all Emma on me right now!" I asked exasperated. "None of your predictions have actually been correct so far. You thought I was lying about not taking the last slice of pizza last night" I reminded her. " Well yes" said Jennifer "the evidence was very convincing". "I didn't eat pizza last night" I told her finally getting up with my magazine.

"I'm leaving" I announced to her. "Fine then" Jennifer looked offended. On other days I would have apologized to her but she really had been getting on my nerves lately with her so called "Emma intuition".

Just as I reached for the trailed door, the door fell open and in stepped the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. "Hi" she said looking at me wide-eyed. "Hi" I stumbled back a few steps to let her in. "I'm Shailene Chalk" she said. "Chalk is not to be confused with Woodley. I'm here because I was cast as the part of Wendy".

"Yeah we weren't expecting you until tomorrow" I told her scratching my head. She really was beautiful. She wore a beige colored scarf in her neck and matching earrings with a white dress that stopped at her knees. It was the middle of December but she still didn't look cold. In fact her skin still had a tan shade about it. Her hair on the other hand were so black and glossy that it looked like it had just been washed." "My plane landed early" she said cooly. Other girls would be jumping and acting crazy right now at meeting "the one and only" Robert Andrew Kay. But not this girl.

"My name is Robbie" I told her after staring at her for a full two minutes. I know" she said placing her suitcase to the side. "Do you want to show me the inside of my trailer?" she asked. "Yes of course" I replied quickly walking to the interior.

Jennifer had done a really good job cleaning up. There were magazines placed properly under the coffee table, a neatly made bed by the wall, and a mahogany dresser/closet with Nars makeup placed in neat lines. It was one of the biggest trailers we had. "Robbie listen I'm so-" Jennifer began upon seeing me but stopped abruptly. "Who is this?" she asked unable to look away after spotting Shailene.

"I'm Shailene. The actress playing Wendy" said Shailene before I could say anything. "Did you do this Jennifer?" She asked pointing to the room. "You really didn't have to. I can clean up after myself. By the way you must tell me what skincare product you use. You don't look a day past 20."

Jennifer grinned and blushed. Wow this girl knew how to make a first impression not in just the way she looked but also in the way she talked. "I don't really use much..maybe cetaphyl.." said Jennifer still blushing. I cleared my throat. This was my moment to get to know this girl better.

"I was wondering Shailene if you would want to rehearse some lines with me. Especially since the producers are thinking about giving us a kiss scene and I know many girls are nervous about that."

Jennifer shot me a smile that said "smooth Robbie" without actually saying anything. Shailene looked up. She was already taking off her scarf and dabbing makeup remover on her face. "Maybe some other time Robbie" she said ingenuously. "I'm tired from my plane and I need to study."

"Study?" Jennifer and I repeated at the same time. "Yes study" she said pulling out a physics textbook. "I'm graduating high school next June and then I hope to be going to medical school as well as keep up with my modeling. So yes I need to study to go to medical school."

I would be lying if I had said that I had never thought about any other career other than being an actor but doctor was not one that I had considered. This girl was not only beautiful but she was also smart. Acting, modeling, being a doctor, she had it all figured out.

"None of us study" I told her and then immediately wished I hadn't. Her chocolate brown eyes immediately darkened. "You need to take care of three aspects of your life. Your mental health, emotional health, and physical health" Shailene told me sounding like she was reciting something from a self-help book.

Then her eyes softened. "I'll walk you two out" she said as Jennifer and I turned to exit the trailer. "Oh and robbie" she said as Jennifer walked away. "What?" I asked hopeful that she would take me up on my offer to reherse lines. "I always get up at 4 in the morning to workout. You are welcome to join me tomorrow". With that she shut the trailer door leaving me freezing in the cold.
