Chapter 6 - I thought ella was dead!? (Caitlyns POV)

The day of the nuke bombing was the day Ella was at my house. We were talking about regular teenage girl stuff; boys, gossip, YouTube. Until we hear the missile alarm go off, we both sprint towards my basement and we see my family running for their life down there too. My mother was the last to come down, she locks the hatch at the top and continues to come down. She does a head count, 1, my little brother... 2, my little sister... 3, me... 4, Ella... 5, herself... everyone was down here safely. My father and other brother doesn't live in this house and my step-father was at work. We waited and waited and waited for hours upon end, we suddenly get a message on our mobiles. Everyone at the same time. It read : "to the public, we would like to inform you all should be safe now but if you wish to proceed to stay in hiding for a bit longer we understand." After I read it I raced up the stairs and unlocked the hatch, I hear a voice from behind me "Caitlyn! What do you think you're doing?" It was ella, I look away from everyone and back up to the hatch door and open it, "I need to find my brother and father!" With that I leave the house on my quest to look for them, I run straight to my fathers house but a ginormous cloud of thick dust comes my direction. I keep running though, I trip over a rock and fall and scrape my knee, but I get up and keep running.

After I found them, I set off back to where everyone was. My little brother was fine and my father was just injured a bit from making sure my little brother made it perfectly fine. I arrive back to my house and see Ella sat on the floor crying, I limp over to make sure she was okay as my leg has a pain in it. But I see her take a knife from inside the house and stab herself, she screams in pain. I scream in horror. I see my mum get her and takes her inside the house and with that I ran away.
