Chapter 1 (Winter's perspective)

I was awoken by the familiar sound of my alarm clock, and I wasn't very happy about it. I growled a bit and started to get up, turning the clock off. I slowly walked over to my closet, and grabbed my uniform and the jacket that would accompany it. Everything I did was a reminder of why I hated Mondays. There wasn't anything that I particularly hated about school, it was the whole thing in general. I didn't struggle with learning, I struggled with fitting in and making friends. All of the girls at my school were outrageously pretty, with model like bodies. Don't forget the flawless faces and hair. I tried to multi task by brushing my teeth in the shower, while brushing my hair as I waited for my toast to get done.I slipped on my shoes and grabbed my backpack, rushing out the door.

Even though I didn't enjoy school, I didn't feel like bringing more attention to myself by being late to class. Once I had arrived, my first class of the day was divided how it usually was. I wasn't exactly a nerd, I wasn't smart enough and didn't like school enough. I wasn't an athlete, fuck physical activity. Nor was I one of the popular girls, I wasn't pretty enough and didn't have the right style. I wished I had fit in with the 'goths' if you will. I was kind of like a wannabe. They seemed cool as hell, but I was way too awkward and shy to talk to them. It's not like they'd acknowledge me anyway.

I sighed and set my things down at my usual space in the back corner of the room. Soon I was in dream land, absent-mindedly staring at the floor. That was until somebody snapped me out of my trance.

"Hey, do you have any notes I can borrow?" My eyes went to the source of the voice, landing on the boy named Oliver. I widened my eyes a bit, he had never so much as glanced at me. I took out my bag and mumbled a yes, handing him the cards and keeping my head down to cover my blush of embarrassment. He thanked me and walked away.

Oliver's perspective

I had got to class and realized I forgot my notes. I sighed in annoyance, knowing that anyone I asked would just try to ignore me out of fear. My eyes wandered around the room until they landed on Winter. I honestly had never even heard her speak, let alone look at me. She didn't seem like one to judge, so I went for it. I carefully got out of my seat, walking over to hers. She looked lost in thought, she always did.

"Hey, do you have any notes I can borrow?" I ask. She snapped her head up, mumbling a yes before looking back down and grabbing her bag. She rummaged through her bag, finally finding her notes. She did a triumphant gesture that she probably thought I couldn't see and I smiled. She quickly handed me the notes, keeping her head down. I could have swore I saw a layer of pink covering her cheeks.

When I turned back around I noticed just about the whole class staring at me in fear. Did they seriously think I threatened her to give me the notes or something? I knew I wasn't exactly normal, but come on, I wouldn't hurt the poor girl. I wouldn't dare hurt her. I just walked back to my seat, pretending no to notice their stares. I didn't exactly have a clique, yeah I had like two friends, but even the 'goth' crew wouldn't let me in. It sucked, I usually just thought about going home all day, checking the clock constantly. The teacher had finally started the lesson, and most people took their attention off me.

Sasha's perspective

I can't believe that Oliver kid outright threatened poor Winter. Yeah, he probably did think she was cute but he shouldn't have threatened her. Winter may not have been popular but I doubt she would go for that reject. So, when class was over I decided to go and talk to her. She was walking off to her next class, and I jogged up to her.

"Hey, Winter," she smiled a bit back and looked down.

"Hey, Sasha. did you need something? I-I have notes," I never really saw Winter talk. She was really shy.

"Oh, no. I just can't believe that idiot reject threatened y-"

"He wasn't threatening me in any way. He was very nice and polite. All he did was ask for notes. Please, get to know someone before you start judging them. If that's all you were going to say to me, then i'll be on my way. I'd rather not be late to my next class," and with that, she walked off, leaving me dumbfounded. I was so surprised by her outburst, I had stood there longer than intended and was late for my next class. I would have never expected her to say that, and I was even more surprised that she defended him like that. I didn't know how I felt about it. I pushed that thinking away, trying to focus on my boring teacher. I really wanted to get a manicure.

Elliot's perspective

It was my last class of the day, gym. I didn't like gym, since I had no where to go. I usually just sat in the back because either the other guys were checking out the girls or were already engaged in conversation. Sighing, I leaned against the wall and waited for the teacher to come out. I had started to get a headache from not eating flesh in quite a long time. I never killed people unless I absolutely needed too. I would usually feed off suicide victims. (I am literally the most creepy person ever what is wrong with me) Finally the teacher walked out, her clip board in hand.

"All right class, we will be doing something different in class today. As you know, we have abnormals all over and it's not safe. For the next month, you will be put into groups of three or four and you will learn how to protect yourself from these pests. I will begin calling out your groups. When you hear your name, please meet up with your team," So I was learning how to protect myself from myself and others alike. Abnormals were spiritual creatures, if you will. They included ghouls, fairies, vampires, and werewolves. No one knew that I was a ghoul, and I intended to keep it that way.

"Elliot, Sasha, Winter, and Oliver. Please meet up with your team and wait for instruction."
