I rush to my room and change into normal clothes.

I'm such an idiot.

Why did I have to be broken?

I grab my books and head to my toxicology class.

I shouldn't talk to him.

I shouldn't get attached.

I can't afford a distraction.

Mabel snaps her fingers in front of me.

"Boss! Hellooo!" She says.

Everyone stares at me with worried faces.

"We've been worried about you," Wendy says.

"Sorry guys. I'm fine. Really."

"Something's bothering you... What is it?" My brother, Will, asks.

"Nothing."

He rolls his eyes.

"I know what you're worried about... it's that brunette. The newbie."

I sigh.

"Yes. I'm worried about h-"

"We need to kill him then. We can't afford any-"

"No. I don't think he's bad... just damaged. Like me... Like us," I say coldly.

Everyone stares at me.

They all know what a terrible childhood Will and I had.

"How bad is it?" Pacifica asks sadly.

"Pretty bad. He had a mental breakdown... and then he just joked about it and left."

"What happened to him?" Mabel asks.

"I... I can't tell you. Not without his permission," I say.

She nods.

"Ok... What about the next mission? Any changes we should know?" Wendy asks, changing the subject.

"Should be pretty easy. Let's suit up."

We walk into the weapons room and grab knives, daggers, etc., just in case the other gang tries anything.

I drive us to the meeting spot and find a white-haired man grinning at us.

His bodyguards frown at us.

"You got what we want?" He asks.

"Yes, Gideon. We don't mess around. Do you have the money?" I ask sourly.

"Duh."

We step out of the car and exchange goods.

"You really thought I'd pay that much and let you go?" Gideon laughs, pointing a gun at me.

I easily knock it out of his hand and stab him with a small knife.

He yelps in pain and manages to get away.
