Charlotte's POV
Once we landed in Los Angeles International Airport, me and Adriana took a taxi to the conference center I was holding my Q and A session( which was in like half an hour) When we got there, my prep team( and my best friends here in LA) was waiting. There was Libby, my makeup artist(we met when I was filming my first movie), Raine, my hair stylist( we met during my second Broadway play), Sasha, who helped out with makeup and hair( she's actually Raine's best friend, who came to dinner and that's how we met) and Marissa, who I known the longest out of the group. We had met when she was the costume designer for my first Broadway play.
"Sorry, we're late. They're was a whole bunch of traffic on Corkskin Road. Must have been an accident," Adriana explained. "It's ok," Libby said with a smile. She always patient and sweet. "No, it's not, Libs. Time is of the essence," Raine replied. Marissa sat me down into a chair and told my prep team in a serious tone "Raine is right. No time to waste. We have less than 25 minutes to make this girl camera- ready. Raine, get the Glizty hairspray. Sasha, get the curling iron. Libby, find that coral pink lipstick from Sephora. And the dark red lipstick too. I'll get the dress.
20 minutes later....
"You ready?" Adriana asked, dressed by Marissa in a white, buttoned ruffled blouse, dark denim pants, and dark red lipstick. My prep team tried(no, forced) her into a dress, but she hated dresses. This one time- me, her and her boyfriend went to a fancy charity event and Adriana was forced to wear a dress. The moment we came home, she tore the dress off her. "Ready as Ill ever be," I said, toying around with the charm bracelet Garroth got me for my 16th birthday. If he was watching, I was hoping he or Zane would notice my charms. I chose specifically in case my brothers were watching. The microphone-shaped charm Zane got me as a parting gift when I left Phoniex Drop to start my acting career, the ballet shoe- shaped charm Vylad got me when I stared in my first ballet in New York during Christmastime, the number 5 charm Garroth gave me for my 21st birthday, the crown shaped- charm my parents got me last Christmas, and the C shaped charm I received as a present from Adriana.
Let's just hope they notices me wearing it, I thought. It was a clue something important was happening. I wish I could tell them. I would text my brothers , but I left my phone in my purse, which was back in the dressing room and there was no way to get my phone in time. Then a thought came to me and immediately turned toward Adriana, who was doing something on her phone. "Hey, can I borrow your phone?" "Why?" She asked, reluctantly handing over her phone, which was like her baby because she did everything on it. "Just gotta send a text and I left my phone back in the dressing room," I replied. Luckily, I knew both Garroth's and Zane's number by heart.
*Its the text Zane gets in the previous chapter except for one thing: Look for signs and at the bracelet.*
"Are they ready yet?" I asked, handing Adriana's phone back after I sent the texts. I peeked from behind the curtains to see dozens of reporters, journalists, and TV crews were in the audience, mingling over cherry punch and frosted sugar cookies. "Almost. We still got a few more coming in," my manager told me, looking down at her clipboard. When she looked up and saw my nervous expression and pacing, Adriana gave me a reassuring smile and a big hug. "Hey, don't be nervous. You've done this plenty of times. I've seen you do it." "I know, but I'm about to make a life- changing decision for me that will change or destroy the rest of my career," I said, continuing to pace since it calmed me down. "Calm down," Adriana told me, placing her hands on my shoulders to stop me from pacing again. "Just take a deep breath and think happy, peaceful thoughts. Everything is gonna be ok,"'she told me. Her words had suddenly calmed me down, she has that effect on me and others. "Thanks, Adri," I say, giving her a hug. "That's what I'm here for. I get payed for it," she replies and we laughed. "Oh I'm on," Adriana told me, giving me a tight before heading onto the stage.
