"Now, Normani, wait a minute. Are you sure it was her?"
"I know it was her, Ally," Normani smiled brightly.
"I just," Lauren furrowed her brows, her green eyes filled with confusion, "I thought she was dead?"
Camila slapped her thigh.
Normani shook her head. "It was her voice, guys. I know it was."
"Well, if it was her," Camila smiled softly at her friend, no matter how much doubt was in her mind, "I'm gonna beat her ass for hanging up on you."
Normani pouted. "You don't even believe me?"
"Normani, you cried yourself to sleep every night for almost two years because you thought she was dead," Ally said. "If you expect us to believe you this easily, you've got something else coming."
Normani stood from her spot on the couch. "Okay," she made her way into the kitchen.
"Wait, I didn't mean it like—"
"I know what you meant, Ally. It's fine."
"Look, Mani, we just—"
"I said it's fine," Normani walked out of the kitchen. "I have to go get the girls from daycare. You guys can—"
"I'll go get them," the three girls said in unison.
They all looked at each other, then back at Normani. "We'll go get them."
Normani gave them a smile. "Go ahead. Have fun."
"Do you want us to bring something to eat back?" Lauren asked.
"Ah, no. You can get the girls something if you want, though," Normani shook her head. "I'm not hungry."
"Alright," Camila said as the three made their way out the door. "We'll be back."
"Bye," the ebony waved, sitting down on the couch.
-
"Now, I know it doesn't take that long for them to pick up the girls, get food, and come back," Normani huffed.
As if on cue, her phone buzzed.
🌸C: we accidentally stopped by the uhh mall. otw back😌🤘🏾
👄N: bitch how you "accidentally" stop by the mall? hurry up tho❤️😘
🌸C: ilyt hahaha🤣😍
Normani rolled her eyes, sitting back on the couch. "I can't stand them."
She was just about to turn on the TV when she heard keys jingling. She raised her brow, looking at her door as the knob turned.
"Y'all were gone for almost an hour. You better have brought a lot of shit at that damn—"
Normani stopped mid-sentence.
Dinah dropped her luggage and smiled at the brunette. Normani stood from her spot and made her way over to her wife. She placed her hand on her face, looking in her eyes.
"You're home," Normani said, a tear slipping from her eye.
Dinah place her hand on top of hers. "I am," she smiled softly.
Normani's eyes scanned the taller girl's face. "God, Dinah," she intertwined their fingers, placing her face in the crook of her wife's neck.
Dinah wrapped an arm around the brunette as she began sobbing. "It's okay, baby," she whispered.
"I thought you were dead," Normani sobbed into her neck.
"I'm right here," Dinah felt the shorter girl grip her shirt.
"We're back—Oh, my God."
Dinah heard bags drop behind her.
"Dinah?"
Dinah moved her hand from around Normani and held up a one.
"Right," Camila said, staring at her best friend in disbelief. "Come on, guys. Back in the car."
Normani lifted her head from Dinah's neck and the two stared at each other. Dinah placed her hands on her wife's face, wiping her tears.
"I'm okay," she pecked the younger girls lips. "I'm right here."
She placed a finger under Normani's chin and reconnected their lips. The ebony placed her hands on Dinah's face and kissed her back.
"God, I missed you," she whispered.
"I missed you too, baby—"
smack!
Dinah put a hand on her cheek, looking at her wife in pure confusion. "I'm sorry," she said, "but what the hell?"
"You should've called," Normani stormed off and made her way up the stairs.
Dinah shook her head as she heard a room door close. "I forgot I married a lunatic," she mumbled.
"She's gotten better."
Dinah turned around and smiled at her friends. "Hey," she said.
"Hey," Lauren let out a breath.
"Ally," a small voice spoke up.
Dinah looked down at her daughters.
"Who is that?"
