Prologue: Split Apart

It was a peaceful day in Paris, for most citizens anyway. Baking away and helping his step father was Jasper Cheng, keeping his cool he ran through the orders in seconds flat, pulling out fresh baked goods out of the oven, while placing them carefully on the tray before him. Needless to say the boy was not a stranger to the ways of the bakery.

"Jasper we have 5 more orders of macaroons!" Tom yelled to him.

"Yeah, Yeah got it pops." He stated back, chuckling as he began making more.

"You know son, any girl you end up with is going to hit the jackpot. Singing and baking?" Tom began to laugh.

"I may be able to back dad but cooking is a different story." Jasper laughed.

Jasper was an aspiring musician was able to snag a few gigs in during his time though high school, which in his opinion was better than nothing. He even became friends with a man named Jagged Stone, who was also slowly climbing his way to become a famous musician. Jasper was ecstatic for his friend and knew he too would eventually be there too, after all he was only sixteen.

"Ah I best tell that to Celeste, she'll want to know that ahead of time." Tom said with a smirk.

With that Jasper nearly dropped the macaroons he had finished.

"Hey! Not funny dad!" Jasper argued.

"Oh come now son. All in good fun. After all you and Celeste have been together for I believe 2 years now?"

"Yeah, just about."

As if on cue Jasper's phone began ringing. Looking down he saw that it was indeed Celeste.

'This girl has way too good of timing.' he thought.

"Hey Celeste." He spoke into his phone.

"Oh good Jasper. Did you look at the news?" She asked in a worried tone.

"No, why whats up?"

"There's a kidnapper heading over towards the mall, wasn't Mari and Sabine going there today?" she asked, clearly in a panic.

"Yeah they were but Celeste they should be fine. You know Mari doesn't leave mom's sight. Just relax, I have to get back to the bakery dad has a lot of customers today." Jasper said trying to calm the girl.

"But Jasper. What if-"

"Celeste, we defeated them. Trust me kitten mom and Mari will be fine."

With that Jasper hung up the phone. Celeste has been on edge ever since their ending battle with Volpina and her followers. He couldn't blame her, it was probably the most difficult battle they had ever faced, and yet it feels as if there was something they had missed.

The two of them were Paris' super heroes Lordbug and Kitty Noir. Their identities were supposed to remain hidden from one another but fate had other plans. A small slip up led to their reveal and the start of their own relationship, that had been almost 2 years ago now and their final battle had only happened 2 months ago. Needless to say the master was not very pleased about their identities being known but hey it worked out.

Jasper turned back to help his father when he overheard two customers speaking.

"Did you hear about the mall kidnappings? I thought after the defeat of Volpina Paris would be safe again." one spoke.

"Well we can't expect everything to be peaceful. People are still people but I did hear that he was targeting small children. If the police aren't on it, I'm sure Lordbug and Kitty Noir will be all over it."

"Even after they defeated the super villain?"

"Of course, they still patrol the streets at night. I caught a glimpse of them the other night. They are cute together."
