Abel quickly came forward with his military tactics, commanding his platoon of men, forward, as they scoped out the camp sight. They had the perimeter covered when Abel tried to identify the creatures ransacking the camp. Soldier's laid dead, their armor and swords beside them, as the big robust figures roared.
The creatures had grey leather like skin, with wrinkles around their fat. They wore only a loin cloth for their own self-respect, not caring about their dignity. In their hands' laid the flesh of the soldier's they cooked over the fire. One pounded on a pair of drums, as the other's hooted to the rhythm. They slammed their hands against their own chest as they hooted energetically. Abel was disgusted at the creatures. Jutting from their mouth was tusk, about three inches long, and running from their ape like nose was a slim of goo, Abel believed to be their mucus.
Abel's com went off, "Are we free to fire sir?"
"As soon as you like, whatever these things are, their ugly." Abel replied, talking into his mic.The fire of bullets went off, slamming against the creatures grey skin. The energy of the shots ripped through the bodies of the monsters quickly, as the team continued to secure the area, checking through the tent flaps. Abel walked forward looking at the creatures they had fired at. There were four in all, lying coldly against the ground. Abel looked up, as one of his men came back to report to him.
"Sir we have a group of civilians trapped in a tent, what are our orders?"
"Let me speak to the, I want to know what they have to say about these," Abel paused, "Trolls."
"Roger that Sir, I'm giving the word." The man walked over to his other two companions as Abel followed close behind.
The men ripped the wood off from the tents entrance as Abel stepped through. The soldiers slowly walked in, looking around the room with their guns. Abel lowered his hands, giving the signal to lower their weapons.
"What were those things out there?" Abel replied as the people looked confused.
"Do ye know what he's saying?" One whispered to another.
"You don't speak my language," Abel replied, "but I speak yours. What did we kill?"
"I find it hard to believe you do not know, but those are trolls. We were to be their next meal." One spoke up.
"Trolls? As in the story books, do they also want my gold?" Abel smiled.
"Ye've heard the stories? Yes well it is not true they live under bridges, they do find the glimmer of metal... to say the least attractive." A woman replied, folding her arms.
"Are you joking me?" Abel replied turning away, "Trolls aren't real."
"Do ye live under a rock or something?" A young boy replied.
"No, I don't live under a rock. I live in a world three thousand years in the future. I live in a world where I'm not even on earth." Abel replied.
"Sir, saying those things can interrupt the time line." A soldier replied.
"Thanks, for the remind; oh and you know that's a good way to lose your job?" Abel replied.
The soldier nodded as Abel looked back towards the captive people, "I have guns, and you are using swords. I know you don't understand. I guess neither do I. You two, get them out of here."
"Yes sir." The soldiers replied, as the escorted the woman children and men out of the camp sight.
Abel walked back out the tent, starring at the burning fire. He had been in this stupid world for too long, he hadn't seen any sign of Kane at all. In fact, this was the first time he had seen any people at all. He wondered where his brother could be, and what he would do in such a boring world.
Abel looked back, as the tank rolled through. He had pulled some strings and get the tank here a week after his own arrival, this was a might day. Abel knew at this point, that if this was the past, it created an alternate time line, his future was safe. All the assassin was thinking now was to conquer this world, with these tools of the future; he knew it would be like taking candy from a baby.
Abel jumped on top of the hovering tank, sitting along the edge of the machine. He watched as his squad joined him. The traveled forward heading towards the tower in the distance, Abel figured Kane would have taken refuge as soon as possible, and would likely be there. Abel only wished he knew how long it would take.
