Time To Go

Chapter Three

I slowly unlock the door and turn the handle but I do not fully open the door

*BANG*

It is open and that 'thing' limps in, I stay quiet but it sees me and makes growling noises. It's arms raise and it limps closer and closer trying to grab me with every step, I do not flinch. I show no fear and it come closer it's almost in arms reach.

I lunge forward and stick the sharp scissors in its eye and pull them back out with force. It growls again and continues towards me.

I lift my arm up and bring the scissors back down in the top of its head, I pull them out as hard as I can and again I bring them back down.

I reparations this five more times until the zombie falls to the ground, it moans and I bring the scissors down one more time, through it's head and this time I'm sure it's dead.

I walk to the rooms door, I shut and lock it again, incase the same events happen, I need to be ready, I need to protect my family!

I knock on the bathroom door. "It's safe, you can come out now" I tell them. *Click* my mum and my brother walk out of the bathroom, Kyle sees the zombie laying on the ground with a pool of blood around its head and starts to cry. I hug him, "it's alright, it can't hurt you. Now listen to me, you need to be quiet because the other zombies will hear you and they will come here and I will have to do it again" I inform him.

I turn to my mum "we have to leave, we need to get out of here, we have to go some place safe. I don't know where we will go, but we need to get as much fuel as possible and drive away from these 'things'" she nods and grabs Kyle's hand, "we need to be quiet, do you understand?" I ask, they nod in unison and we head towards the door, before unlocking the door I pull my scissors from the zombies face and put my bag on my back.

"Are you ready?" I ask them, Kyle doesn't move his head, "No" my mum admits "but I'm not sure anyone was ready for the dead to rise" she jokes. I turn to her "mum please, I know your trying to cheer us up, but we need to get out of here before we get eaten, and I'd rather die then kill other people without my awareness" I say "I'm sorry if I upset you in any sort of way, but we have to get out of here! Now!" I tell her.

"Pick up Kyle, we don't need to go very fast but we can't have him ten meters behind us" mum picks him up then I walk over to Kyle and look him in the eyes, "stay quiet, as quiet as you can, don't yell, don't cry, don't even talk. Can you do that for me?" He lifts his head up from my mums shoulder and nods.

I make a sharp turn on my heel and make my way towards the door, without turning around I say "stay away from the door, if there is anything out there I don't want it near you, stay over there!" I lift the scissors ready to strike if needed and I slowly unlock the door turning the lock as silently as possible so I don't attract those 'things'.

I open the door slightly"ft and check for any monsters that might be near the room, we're on the first floor so it will be an easy escape. An empty hall. Perfect.

I turn around and gesture my hand so that my mum will follow me, "the hall is empty as far as I can see, but that doesn't mean you can be off guard, you have to be ready for anything, understand?" I whisper to her "I understand, you stay in front so I can protect Kyle, but I won't be far behind you" I nod "make sure you watch your back" I say.

We walk out of the room, I leave the door open. It doesn't need to be closed, closing it will make a noise anyway.

I look at my mother

"Time to go" I say.
