As the young prince enter the castle, he was instantly dragged to the dining room. "And where were you?" His mother,queen Aleena, was livid. Sonic could practically see the smoke coming out her ears. "I just went for a walk..." mumbled Sonic. Queen Aleena sighed. "How many times you are to stay in the castle!" As the words left queen Aleena's lips Sonic looked longingly at the window. It displayed a snowstorm. "Mother...Can I please ju-" Aleena dragged Sonic by the ear. "OW!" Sonic squealed. "You cannot 'just'. You're going to bed!" Exclaimed the queen. She was fed up with Sonic's idea of exploring. Aleena shoved Sonic in his room and locked the door. "LET ME OUT!" Sonic screamed. "No. I have more important tasks like look for our missing knight. Go to sleep." The queen said sternly. Outside, a blanket of snow painted the world outside angel white. Sonic sat on his bed. He took of his small crown and hurled it at the wall. It smashed. Sonic walked to the balcony and looked out at the unexplored world just waiting for him. He could see the garden from here. Eventually, Sonic gave in. He climbed into his bed and fell into a deep sleep.

Shadow's eyes flickered open. The morning sun shone on the white blanket of snow around him. His head ached tremendously. He seemed to be wrapped in one of the most expensive cloaks and on his chest lay a white rose. Shadow slowly sat himself up. He played with the rose in his hands. It smelt luscious. How did he even get here? He lifted his hand to his wounds and flinched. The pain was horrible. He smelt the rose again, morning due sticking to his nose.

Sonic dragged himself out of bed. He got dressed and tried his door. "Still locked..." He sighed. He went to his balcony. He guessed the mysterious knight would be awake by now. "I bet he's hungry." "who's hungry?" Queen Aleena took Sonic by surprise. "No one" Lied Sonic. "Anyway, as a punishment I think you need to stay in your room today. That's why I brought breakfast up."Aleena said sternly. "Mother No. I'm not staying inside all day." Whined Sonic. "WELL TOUGH!"The door slammed as The queen stormed out. Click. "That's the lock." Sighed Sonic. He grabbed the tray of food and returned to the balcony. "I bet the knight will enjoy some breakfast." Sonic was excited to hear the tales of the adventures the mysterious hedgehog must have been on. Sonic hopped over the railing and clambered down the ivy growing on the wall. He raced to the rose garden, trying not to leave too many footprints in the cold snow. As he approached the knight, he blushed. "Hi I'm sonic I'll bet you're hungry!" Exclaimed Sonic a little bit too excitedly.
"Your majesty..." The knight lowered his head. "I just told you my name and you already forgot it?! I'm Sonic!" The blue hedgehog sat beside the knight. "I'm sorry your maj-...Sonic." Sonic gave him the freshly cooked breakfast. "So, who are you?" Asked Sonic. "I'm sir Shadow." Then the hedgehog began to eat. Sonic repeated the name over in his head. He liked the way it sounded. His name. Why was it so familiar. Names are so weird thought the young prince.
