Fallen Kingdom

She was pure beauty
Every feature and trait of her was a little kiss from heaven
She was just like her mother, gentle and lovely
She resembled her father's eyes and thick, luscious hair
Her peacefulness ruled this kingdom
She reigned for three years, her first three years of life

Suddenly, a merciless disease ravaged this land
Cancer didn't care if it entered the body of a child not yet in young fives
She turned to dust in the blink of an eye
Along with the kingdom and the precious memories of her

Every single day that passes
I miss her more and more
The more I want to hug her and tell her how special and beautiful she truly is
But the more I think about her
The more my mind replaces her image with ones of grief and anguish
I have forgotten what I want - no, what I need - to remember
I need to remember her and what she looked like without pictures that make me cry every time
But the fragmented memories are too hard to put back together

This kingdom will never be the same again
