Chapter 4.

"shhh, everything is gonna be ok Lyla, he's in a better place now. he isn't in pain anymore" Colby said as he had me in a hug. we were still at the hospital, the doctor came and confirmed that my grandfather had passed. the waiting room was full of cries, sobs, everything. I've been with Colby the entire time. I just clung onto him, and I didn't wanna let go. I was just so tired of everything going on in my life. My mom and her cancer and my grandfather who had just passed away.

The only good thing in my life right now is my career, and I'm extra lucky that Colby comes along with it. It's like a double package.

"Can we go to my place? please?" I said

"Sure thing, now let's go say bye to your family, ok?" Colby said.

"Yeah" I said as I slowly stood up and walked to my family, who still were balling their eyes out.

"Colby and I are gonna go. We are really tired from our flight and I just wanna relax and clear my mind. call me when your doing funeral arrangements, I want, no I need to be apart of that" I said as I hugged my family, and gave my mom and extra tight hug.

"Everything is gonna be ok mom" I said as I pulled away from the hug and left.

Colby and I just got back to my apartment, he offered to stay with me at my place while we were back in Iowa for the 2 weeks, then were back on the road.

"how are you feeling?" Colby asked me. I was sitting on the couch, staring at the television, which wasn't even turned on. I'm in such utter shock that this even happened.

"um Lyla, earth to Lyla" Colby said waving a hand in my face

"what?" I said, confused as ever.

"I asked you how your feeling, and you just sat there with a blank look on your face" he said

"oh. I'm sorry Colby I'm just. I'm just so shocked at what's going on in my life right now! it's good and it's awesome but it's also at the same time horrifically horrendous" I said. before I knew it I felt a year forming. by then I knew I would start crying.

"Lyla, it's ok. everything's gonna be fine" Colby said. I could feel his gaze on my as I lifted my head up, yep, he was staring. I couldn't help but notice how full and pink his lips are, and before I knew it, we were both leaning in.

Then his lips fell on mine.

I kissed my best friend.

It's a terrible chapter bc it's short but I'm working on big chapters. these are fillers until its time for my big chapter to be released. the next couple chapters won't be lengthy, but they will be a little longer than this. but I hoped you like this chapter! -jalenna
