Blackness surrounded me, it was darker than night, impossible to see anything. A musty smell was in the air, rotten and foul. suddenly a brilliant light was turned on. it stung my eyes, making me flinch in pain. A single man, tall, and wearing a suit stood in front of me. I was bound to a chair, my chest was stinging with pain. I felt like I was bleeding but i wasnt sure. The man slammed his hand on a table in front of me and he yelled. I couldnt hear him, my head was ringing out in agony. The man moved toward me and i though this was the end.

2 hours earlier...

I was out walking around New York City doing nothing in particular. I liked walking and I liked the city, maybe I will stop somewhere if something catches my eye, I think to myself. I continue walking and sure enough, I see something that interests me. There is always something to do or somewhere to go in New York City.

I walked up the building I had spotted and peaked inside. The sign claimed they had all kinds of energy drinks and as a huge fan, this certainly peaked my interest. I walk through the door of the building and my eyes widened. Every drink i had ever thought or heard of were all right in front of me. I continued to search around as a tall man wearing a black suit with a black tie walked in the door. He moved slowly with a certain awkwardness in his step. I didn't want to seem rude so I tried not to pay much attention to him. He got closer to me, slowly but surely. Eventually he was right next to where I was, I went to look up at him and as I did, I saw a huge metal bat being swung directly at my head. I was out.

Flashback ends...

The man moved toward me and I had thought that this must surely be the end. I closed my eyes awaiting the inevitable.

I began to awake, my head on fire. I start to open my eyes to see lights blinding me and someone standing over me, hoping to see if I was ok. I started to move, but i was pushed back down. I heard a voice say, "No dont move, you need to rest." It was Zoe, my best friend. 'Oh my God Zoe, I hope she is ok, she must have been scared to death.' I thought to myself. "Where am I?" I manage to say. "Everything is ok, your at the hospital, your going to be all better." Zoe said back to me. I turn my head and look at her, she was crying, her face was red and her eyes were watery. I started, "Zoe.. I.. I'm so sorry. I had never meant.." "No, its ok, please, try not to talk. You were cut across the chest and you have a serious concussion." I held out my hand toward her, slowly and weakly. She stood up and walked over to me, she sniffled and bent down to give me a hug. I accepted it graciously, I love Zoe, she is always there for me. she is my best friend, my one and only true friend.
