I cried while writing this, just to let you know, have a good day!
-Gabby
Lyric sat on her bed and let the tears flow, she wasn't known to cry very often but she just started to realized that she's moving and that she will most probably never see her house again.
"Lyric, time to start packing, we are going to leave in 3 days!!" Kate called from downstairs, not aware of her daughter has been taking this hard.
Of course, this was hard for both of them, but it was harder for lyric
Lyric rubbed her eyes and sniffed before she let out a weak "Okay!". She sat up and walked to her closet, she looked at all the stuff. 'I hope I can stuff all of this in one box, or at least 2 boxes,' she thought as she took some of her clothes down.
"I brought you....some boxes," Kate said between breaths as she walked into her daughter's room. "Thanks mom," lyric smiled "Do you think I would be able to stuff all the stuff in my closet into this box?".
Kate laughed lightly, "I don't think so, lyric, I have five big boxes that you can fill with whatever you want to bring, you can also stuff your smaller suitcases and backpacks with stuff as well, we'll bring those in the car with us,".
"Okay...mom?" Lyric asked. "Yes?" Kate replied. "Did you go to public school?" Lyric asked. "I thought I've told you..." Kate answered. "No.....no you didn't actually...you don't tell me anything really," lyric replied, sitting on her bed. "Oh," a feeling of guilt came across Kate's face "honey I'm sorry....yes, yes I did go to school, but back then it was considered weird to be homeschooled.".
"Why?" Lyric asked. "Well, because....I don't really know actually, it just was,". "Oh.....what was public school like?" Lyric asked as she put some of her books neatly in a box. "Well, it's loud..um....it's very loud and usually the teachers give you lots of homework, but I can help you with that," Kate said "school can also be very fun, you get to make new friends,".
"But what if they think I'm annoying or something?" Lyric asked as she sorted her copy of the Chronicals of Narnia series by c.s. Lewis. Kate laughed softly "they won't think you're annoying Lyric! Just be strong, and speak loud so people can hear you,". "Okay....." Lyric replied as she set all her box-set series on the top of the box. "Lyric..." Kate started. "Yes mom?" Lyric replied as she set the box on the floor and went and sat by her mom. "I'm sorry I haven't been a very great mother, I don't know what got over me but...I'm sorry we never really had a mother-daughter bound like i wanted us too....and..." She breathed in really hard, "and a father.....".
At that moment, a great feeling came upon her, like a huge wait was lifted off her shoulder and a breath she didn't know she's been holding in for so long.
"It's okay mom, I understand," lyric smiled as she hugged her mother tightly. Kate hugged back, "I love you," she whispered into Lyric's ear. "I love you too,".
The words 'I love you' haven't been spoken in this house in a very long time.
They released there hug and Lyric went back to packing. "Would you be able to spare one more box?....I have more books than I knew I had," lyric asked. "Okay, but only one more!" Kate chuckled as she went downstairs to get another box.
Lyric sat on her bed and took the diary out of her pillow case.
Dear diary,
Today mom and I started packing, while I was boxing up all my books, except the one I'm reading currently(if you where wondering what it is, it's 'the chance' by Karen Kingsbury.)
Anyways, while I was packing my books up mom and I actually had a nice conversation, it felt good, it felt different....Mom and I never had a connection before...but it felt really amazing to talk to her like she was my best friend, I've never had a best friend so I'm guessing this is what it's like? I'm not sure.
And guess what!!! We actually said 'I love you'! I don't remember the last time I've heard those words out of her mouth.
Hopefully I'll make friends at school, I'm very nervous that I won't but mom said if I'm loud and confident then I should be okay.
I hope she's right....
Oh, moms back with my 6th box, I guess I should get back to packing and then go to sleep, night!

At that moment, both Lyric and Kate knew that at that night, a new chapter of they're life has started.
