14 years later

Mama had died a few years ago but that's when I met Will, I may be only fourteen but he's been my best friend ever since, and I think the feeling's mutual. He'd asked me to read him a story a while ago, and when I looked up he was asleep on a tree so an idea came into mind. I stood and shifted into my monkey state then threw a twig at him, he jerked awake "what the bloody hell?!" I saw his eyes go over to the book "Circe?" I screeched above him and watched him scream while stumbling into standing position. I jumped down and changed back "the bloody hell do you think your doing?" I could tell he had talked to my father about the whole monkey thing "c'mon, it was worth it" I nudged him playfully "what if someone saw you? What if the witch saw you?" I bowed playfully "I'm sorry, does that suffice your worries?" I saw him start to smile "c'mon, race you back. No magic" I smirked "who said I needed it?" He looked at me confused, then I sprinted forward "your a little cheater, you know that?" I heard him running after me, usually there was a rock that he'd trip over making me gain distance.

I stopped a few trees before the edge of town, I saw the witch strolling around the streets "what's wro-" I covered his mouth quickly as his eyes caught what I was looking at "Run" we both turned and darted in the other direction but it wasn't long before I heard a flap of wings, then more than one. I looked back to see a monkey pinned to the floor by another one, my father "Circe..." I looked forward to see the witch, I curtsied immediately "your parents taught you well"

"Bloody hell" I heard someone change back behind me "Circey? You should've been home by now" I hung my head and looked at my father "I'm sorry Papa" I saw the witch smiling and watching my father "you've got quite some explaining to do ape" I felt...

"Bloody hell" I heard someone change back behind me "Circey? You should've been home by now" I hung my head and looked at my father "I'm sorry Papa" I saw the witch smiling and watching my father "you've got quite some explaining to do ape" I felt how scared Will was "Zelena, this is my daughter, Circe, Will is her chaperone" I readjusted my shoulders and held my head high, I saw the witch wave her hand but nothing happened, she suddenly looked confused "this usually works dear" my father stepped beside me "you can't turn her into a monkey because she was born one" I took my ape form then took my human form "fascinating, a child born of both winged ape and witch" he looked at me shocked "mama told me not to tell you, it's why she gave me her spell book" she crouched to my level "do you wish to be any different?" I shook my head gently "wishing only wounds the heart my wickedness" she seemed impressed "well mannered and good with words, you've done well Walsh" I glanced at Will with a scared expression, I'd heard of rumours that she tortured people she felt threatened by, some she let her monkeys rip limb form limb, others she boiled into a soup then drinks it. I didn't want to know what her plans were for me.

She moved her hand upwards and I was consumed in a cloud of smoke, I heard someone yell my name. I reappeared in the center of the 'Wizard of Oz's' castle. I knew my father used to be the wizard before zelena but times have changed. I spent some time sneaking in and out of here with Will, I saw something on the wall she hadn't yet, in thick red paint were the words 'No one Mourns The Wicked' I grabbed a wet cloth, became the ape and clung onto the wall trying to clean off the paint "Looks like I have a threat upon my wall, I admire your work without pay" I gave her a sharp smile and kept cleaning, I saw another monkey with a trench coat. He smiled at me sweetly, then he spoke to me in monkey "Why are you so nice to her?" I moved to another part of the wall "I think she's more misunderstood rather than born evil, everyone should be mourned, good or bad. I'm doing this because it's decent house keeping, not because I could be potentially payed" I glanced back to see the witch looking at the other monkey "Well Chistery? What did she say?" I didn't hear her ask him to ask me,I must of done my natural thing where when I'm working I drown out all other sound except those talking to me.

"She understands you, she also has a hobby for housekeeping and despises being payed miss" I finally finished cleaning the wall and flew down then bowed pledging my service to her "Chistery, it seems I have acquired a secret weapon, make the child feel welcome" I turned back to human and rose, 'Chistery' offered me his hand so I took it as he hopped on the floor "you touched something in her, how'd you do that?" I smiled "I have a way with people, I was raised to treat no one as a stranger, everyone is family. I guess that means something to people" i walked into a room which looked extremely fancy "I believe this so yours...uh..." I smiled at him as he couldn't remember my name because he never got it "Circe" I could see his embarrassment "right, Circe" then he left. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad, Chistery seemed a gentleman, I was with my father.

I was suddenly embraced "I'm so sorry Circey" I recognised the voice as my papa's "it's ok papa, I don't think she'll hurt me anytime soon" we hugged for a while "your mother said she would find you eventually, I said I could keep you safe but she was right...she was right" I turned to him "No, you successfully hid me for 14 years , with monkey translation and flight lessons. I got careless and stayed out with Will longer than I should've, it's my fault and I want to pay the price, don't try to talk me out of this papa" he rolled his eyes "I neve-" "yes you do, every time, you always say the same" he raised his eyebrows at me " 'don't do this, you're too young and the witch would find you and take you from me, I've already lost your mother, your all I have left. Just stay inside for now, we can do something later' and then we fly above the clouds and go rock climbing when night falls" he chuckled "I really need new tactics if my own daughter can memorise it word for word" I smiled "monkey memory"

He smiled satisfied that I was ok and left so I flopped onto the bed feeling like a damn Queen, I placed my book on the bedside table and read the front page which was moto's from all the past witches in our bloodline 'As long as we have each other, we can defeat any threat coming our way' was my mother's and mine was 'Wishing only Wounds the heart so extend your wings and take what's yours' Nana had demanded I made my mark after my mother died 'just in case something happened to me' so I was a little mad and depressed then I had a courageous phase then a few months later I was back to normal. Or as normal as I could get.
