I told everything to them and I was grateful for that. Grant never came out of the room and I figured he's sleeping.
'How's the concert?' Raph asked me.
'It was dope, but everything went downhill when Josh Ruben tried beating up Rekha.' I answered
'We haven't told you what happened to Rekha's brother?' Trapp jumped in.
'No, what happened?'
'It was about three months ago. Her brother was just hanging out with his friends, probably drinking and playing poker. Josh and his buddies challenged Rekha's brother's friends to a poker game. Obviously, Rekha's brother won. A few days after this, Josh ambushes him by busting a bottle on his head, killed him. Josh got arrested but his parents paid the bail.
'Rekha was pretty shook. She didn't want anyone around, she lost a great brother. He was the guy making the dough in the house. After he passed, she and her family decided to move away for a bit. I guess they're okay now so they decided to come back.' Trapp explains.
I didn't know Rekha that well. Sure I knew she was Asian, Grant's ex, senior as well. I didn't know all of this. I think that's why Josh tried to trick me. Because I didn't know a lot about what happens, maybe even make me one of his friends.
The guys left about 2:30 in the morning. I went up to sleep for the remaining hours before school. I was still nervous. What was Grant gonna say when he gets up? Is he going to kick me out, beat me up? Many possibilities if you have a brother like Grant O'Brien.
You see, brothers tend to be strong tough guys. You piss off your big bro, you're really into a deep hole of sh-t. I've heard classmates of mine tell their friends they get into fights with their brothers all the time. That's why I remind myself not to piss him off. Take note, he's a six-foot-three, way taller than me, a five-foot-three. So beating me would be like squashing an ant with your shoe.
The next morning, I woke up a few minutes after him. He was downstairs cooking breakfast. He was also a great cook. I took a quick shower and sat down with him for breakfast. Eggs and toast. I was gonna wash dishes before heading out if he was cooking, vice versa if it's me waking up earlier.
'Morning,' he greeted. He was smiling and I was confused.
He finishes cooking and sits down on the table in front of me, eating down his toast. I wasn't touching my food, his smile faded.
'What's up?' He asked
'I'm sorry about last night, I should've told you I went out.' I said, almost in a whisper.
'It's okay,' he answers, 'It's just, Josh even tricked my brother. I didn't know what he was going to do with you. Could've ended up like Rekha's brother. I was really worried. You're okay and that's what counts. I'm sorry for shouting at you.'
'Thanks, man' I mumbled but I didn't think he heard what I said. I started eating as well. I sighed in relief that we were okay and Grant wouldn't beat the crap out of me.
'Working at Sam's again today. Then, I'm off to a date.' He smirks
'I was betting you had one!' I exclaimed, 'How'd you find her?'
'Good looking, at my school actually. She's a senior as well. We're gonna watch a movie in the drive in, so I want you to go to Trapp's house and loan me his car, can you do that?'
'I'm driving it?' I asked, which I would think I was gonna get caught easily by the cops, since I did look thirteen.
'Duh..no, just hand me the keys. You can't drive for 'til you're eighteen.' He sarcastically says.
