Next day, after school, I was with Brennan on the way to the comic store to get him some stuff for his DnD campaign. He and his brother were crazy about it. I really didn't feel the same for it since board games bore me. I liked playing good old Tetris on my Gameboy, or Pokémon Yellow.

I was listening to Pinkerton with Grant's tape player. I was listening to El Scorcho. Pretty mad skills if you ask me. Rivers still got it when it came to playing guitar.

'Hey, Julian.' He turns to me as soon as he finishes paying his figures for the board game, 'Wanna join us?'

'Oh, sorry,' trying to make myself frown, faking it, 'I gotta help my brother out with stuff.'

I had a rep for having 'no friends' in school. I do, but they're all way older than me. But I tried to be polite, I wasn't that introverted that would grumble, 'I have no friends' or 'I don't love the outside.'. Having no friends and hating people don't always go together.

I parted with Brennan and made my way home. I went to Sam's bar to be with Grant. I want to see if I could get him to slip out something about his bisexuality. I have been reading his journal, and God knows what's he's doing to keep low.

I head in and go to where he usually was, behind the bar, but it was Sam Reich who was cleaning glasses. He looks down and smiles.

'Well, Julian, hows it been?' He greeted

'You've seen Grant?' I asked, without answering his question.

'It's his day off today. But he came in today to tell me he's working next weekend, he said there's this important gathering he's going to. He didn't tell you?'

'No, but thanks, Sam.' I respond and started for the door.

I went home to get my homework done as usual. But when I did finish, I went to go look for him. I went out and the moon was out in the dark blue sky. I never saw it this pretty, the stars shining through a space of nothing.

I walked a bit wherever I felt going, leading me nowhere to Grant. I thought he could be at the drive-in again, thing was, he didn't have a car. Maybe he snuck his way in. So I still thought to check it out.

The drive-in was huge. Cars parked there to see some movie that people were nuts about, guys picking up ladies and getting drunk (Zac told me Grant loved doing this and he was the key to getting girls all over them.), girls would hide or quietly watch the movie without trying to get guys' attention, runaways from home would stay here for a bit, about a night or two and go back home. I came here to watch movies, Grant came to look at girls. He'd play this game with me and point out girls and tell who he'd want to marry, screw and kill.  Straight Grant was pretty obnoxious.

I looked around for Grant, called his name a few times and got other people named Grant as well looking at me. But he was nowhere to be seen.

'Oi, kid.' A guy shouted at me. I looked back and I saw some scrawny probably college-age guy with black puffy, curly hair. He was wearing a faded green shirt with black pants. He had blue eyes and the Adam's apple on him was sticking out of his throat alright.

'What you want?' I asked, skeptical. Could've been one of Josh's buddies but I have never seen him here before, not here. I was familiar with most faces in this place since I went here with Grant almost all the time, but this dude look new here.

'Grant? Who's this Grant guy?' He asked as he drew a cigarette out his pocket and lit it.

'Grant O' Brien, he's my brother. I'm looking for him, he hangs around here a lot so I thought he's here.'
