Jughead was being talked to by Sweet Pea, but that was the least of his concerns. He was busy watching Toni stressfully type away at her phone, and she looked like she was going to cry.
"AND THEN THERE WAS AN EXPLOSION AND-"
"I'll be right back Sweet Pea" said Jughead calmly.
Jughead walked over to Toni who was still really stressed out, but had put her phone down.
"Hey. You okay Toni?" asked Jughead as he sat down next to Toni.
Toni felt an aching sensation of dread in her chest that she had hurt Cheryl. Which was the last thing she'd ever want to do.
"Something happened with Cheryl" said Toni without looking at Jughead. She rested her head on the counter, and Jughead waited for a response that he didn't get until he asked another question.
"Something bad?" asked Jughead a bit more gently. He knew that Toni loved Cheryl and that Cheryl probably loved Toni more than she'd ever know. Toni was the only one who had really given Cheryl love since Jason, and Toni knew that. Which was why she was so torn.
Toni nodded a few times and then breathed shakily. She wouldn't dream of ever hurting Cheryl. Just the thought of anyone hurting her made her want to cry.
"Do you want to talk about it?" asked Jughead.
Toni shook her head. She picked up her phone, and got up.
"I'm gonna go you guys. See you on Monday" said Toni.
