"Katelyn Bentley! Wake up! You're going to be late for school!" a female voice screamed at me, waking me from my dreamland. I sighed and opened one eye, looking at my mother standing in my doorway. Carie Bentley, my mother and starter of C.B's Fashion web.
God am I the only in the family who isn't special in some way? I thought as she yelled at me to get up and be downstairs in five minutes for breakfast. I put my pillow in my face and groan. I hated school, but the fact is it's the easiest way to see my best friends in the world.
I sit up and stretch my arms over my head and crack my knuckles. I begin to brush my extremely dark hair. It's nearly black, but it has that odd tint of blue in certain building light and in sunlight it has a tint of reddish brown.
Another knock at my door, "Sweetie, Andrew and Emily are here." I hear my dad, Berry Bentley, tell me sleepily. At least I know where I get my night owl and not my morning bird. "Send them in!" I yell after getting on my favorite shirt, plain white and an odd assort of swirls and other things. I love it, I have multiple but in different colors.
I go into my bathroom as Andrew and Em walk in. "Hey where'd you go?" Em asked jokingly. "It's most likely she is in her bathroom. There is no logical way she could've just disappeared in thin air, no matter how much my parents think that paranormal beings exist." Andrew says and I hear them about to start fighting. I pull on my dark denim jeans and brush my teeth. When I open the door I see Em about to hit Andrew "Ahem." I say and they both look at me.
"Oh, hey Katie." Andrew says hiding behind me from Em. I look over to Em and she has this innocent look on her face. "C'mon! I smell pancakes!" I say and grab my bag, phone, iPod and headphones then begin to race down the stairs. "Katie! Wait up! We aren't this fast!" Andrew pants as I jump down at the last four steps. "Morning sleepyhead." My mom says to me putting pancakes on a plate. I sit down and begin to scarf them down.
My mom rolls her eyes and looks at Andrew and Em. "Do you two want anything?" She asks them and they shake their heads no. When I finish my breakfast I dash up the stairs and pull on my blue, black and white converse.
"Seeya mom!" I yell and run towards the door. "Bye Mrs. Bentley!" Andrew says walking quickly to catch up with me, Em most likely waved but I was already outside. Em came outside the house and looked at me weird. "What? Did I do something?" I ask putting my hands on my hips in a sassy way. "Why're you all cheery?" I thought you hated school."
I roll my eyes and said with annoyance "Look. Just because I don't like school, doesn't mean I like being late and getting a lecture, alright? Don't tell me you enjoy the old man's rambling." I started walking, Em and Andrew on either side of me.
On the walk to school I thought I saw something. It was in one of the alleyways. I shake my head and I look at my phone "Guys we better hurry. We're gonna be late if we keep at this pace." I say and all three of us start sprinting to the school
I run down the hall to my locker as the halls start to fill up with kids, I dodge and weave through everyone. Being short and small helps sometimes.
Although..... Not today it doesn't.
A girl in a pink blouse, skinny jeans and pink, sparkling designer shoes pushes me over. Jasmine. Oh great...
"Watch it Bentley! You're going to get your loser germs all over my new shoes!!!" Jasmine squeals, pushing her bleach blonde hair over her shoulder as I pick up my books. "Go away Jasmine. I already have enough on my plate today!" She huffs and walks off, but not before knocking my books back out of my hands.
Andrew and Em run over and help me with my books. "Thanks guys. We better go, we're gonna be late." We run off to our first class, barely making the bell. This should be a nice day.
But... I was far from right.
