As the day went on, all was pretty normal. Andrew was jumpy though. Something must of happened at home, or is happening.

After school, Em and I stood outside the front doors of the school, waiting for Andrew. Again. "Is he coming or not?" Em asks impatiently. She never tolerated Andrew's absences when it came to going to mine or his house. We usually went to mine, Em didn't like to talk about her family for some reason she never explained. And with Andrew's obsessive parents, it was kinda hard to do homework or hangout at his house.

"We're going to his house today, aren't we? I swear. Sometimes you're more impatient than my dog, Em." I laugh as Em points out that I don't have a dog. Though I really want one, even at the risk of my fathers life. He's deathly allergic, his eyes swell up and we can never find his epi-pen. He can't really be around any breed that I want, and he can't be around the shed fur. So when we go to one of our relatives houses, they have to clean up the place and keep the animals outside. He got me a fish once. Once. It died because I went to camp and it was underfed.

Andrew sprints over to us and stops, panting. "S... Sorry guys...." He pants out. I chuckle at him. He doesn't have to apologize all the time, he's always late.

Em starts walking towards Andrew's house and we follow. Em adjusted her black messenger bag over her shoulder. "So what's your parents up to this time?" I ask Andrew, just to make conversation. "A dimension portal." He states plainly. I nearly burst out laughing. "Your parents really think there are other dimensions?" He smacks my arm playfully as I laugh. Em starts laughing too.

"Of course they do! You've met them! They're obsessed with it!" He complains. We come up to his house soon enough. I walk up to the door and knock. A muffled yell of "Come in." comes from inside, so I open the door and close it behind Andrew and Em.

"Andrew! Come down here!!! We've almost done it!" I look at Andrew and he shrugs with a "Why not?" look on his face. Could this have been what was bothering him today? The three of us walk down the stairs into the basement of the Hollins' house.

"Oh god.." I hear Andrew mumble as he pinches the bridge of his nose. I would've said the same thing if it were my parents. In the wall on the far side of the room was a huge crater. Like a giant ball broke into rubber, but then stayed that shape around it. "Kids! This is the Dimension Portal."

They tried explaining what it did and stuff, but I just didn't get it. So I pretended to listen and act like I knew what they were talking about. "... And now we are going to turn it on!!!" Andrew's father said excitedly, saying that the first dimension they would try was a ghost one.

And as usual. Nothing. Happened. At. All. Andrew's dad started whining and Angela, Andrew's mom, comforted him and said she'd make him some brownies or something. "Yay!" Carl squealed and walked upstairs, Angela looked back at us. She pulled her long dirty blonde hair into a ponytail and her bright green eyes were always kind.

"You kids are free to stay here and look at what we've accomplished since the last time you were here. Just don't touch anything that may be faulty." She walked back upstairs and closed the soundproof door behind her. A lot of the things they had were faulty, so we hardly touched anything . Em looked at Andrew with one of her idea looks. "You should go into the portal and fix it!!!"

"What?! Em! If I mess with their portal, I'll be grounded for LIFE." Andrew said, backing away from Em. "Come on! You wouldn't mess it up! You're practically a scientist yourself! You know more than they do even!" She said, still trying to catch Andrew to make him go into the portal to fix whatever was wrong with it. He is smart but he was one of those kind of people who think they can't do something really well when they can.

Finally, after ten minutes of insisting, running and the words 'No I can't.' I got irritated. "Enough with you two! You've been fighting all day! I'll just go inside the stupid portal!" I practically screamed at them.

Em looked at me with surprise. "Uh... Katie. I was just joking—" "YOU WERE JUST JOKING!?!?!" Andrew yelled at Em. And here we go... "I'll go in there if it makes you two stop fighting. Jeez guys! You fight like a married couple." I said as I walked towards the portal.

"We do not!" Em said to me as I walked by, but Andrew stopped me. "Katie I'm sorry but you.... Kinda have to wear..." Oh no...

Andrew sighed and nodded, he walked over to a small dresser. I reluctantly walked over there. "Is there one that won't make me look stupid?" I complained. He shook his head and pulled out one, it was white. And I mean full on white. Black boots and fingerless gloves. "Oh jeez..." I said and pinched the bridge of my nose. I can't believe I'm doing this.

I slowly put it on over my clothes. I mean, seriously. Did you think I was gonna change like that in front of Andrew? No way. When I had it zipped up, I walked over to the portal. "Well. Here we go." I said to myself as I walked into the oddly shaped hole.

It... It wasn't the easiest thing to stand up in. And it was dark.

So when I fell. I pushed the on button someone stupidly put on the inside of the thing. I screamed at the unbearable pain, I heard my friends scream my name. I couldn't respond and then the pain suddenly stopped.

Next thing I remember, was passing out and falling out of the now off portal.

Only I didn't come out the way I went in.
